Dragon/Ares article question...

Does anyone happen to remember if there was an article in the Dragon/Ares magazine titled, or sub-titled, "Putting the Fight into Fighters"?  If I am recalling correctly, it discussed ways of improving the Knight Hawk rules with regards to space fighters.  I had just finished reading the great article "Starflight: Starfighters in Alpha Dawn" form issue 5 of the Frontiersman when I got to thinking about that first article.  I searched my hard drive but could find no file with said article.  I thought the information would compliment each other well since this mysterious article discussed how fighters resupply and can be more effective in squadrons (I think.)

Does anyone else recall such a piece of writing or am I dreaming?

It's not one that I remember.  If you go over to www.starfrontiers.com and go to the "Rules" section, there are links to all the known articles from Dragon, Ares and other RPG magazines about Star Frontiers.  A quick scan didn't turn up anything close to that title but that doesn't really mean anything.  There are several KH articles and some about starship design.

There were two close to that... one was the armory article, that added laser pistons, fusion bombs and such. The other I think was Frontiers of Design (???) where you calculated interior volume and could add weapon systems based on that, not MHS requirements.

Thanks for your replies.  I believe I have all of those files already.  My memories of this article are so vague that I'm starting to think I dreamed about it.  I do remember that the D20 future addressed something about the benefit of formations of fighters attacking larger ships; strength in numbers and all.  I don't remember much from that product, but I think it treated squadron formations in the same way that many game systems seem to treat Minions (treating each formation as a single, deadlier unit.)  Maybe some enterprising soul will take on this subject; or not.

In any case, thanks again for your efforts.

One thing you might want to look up is the Warships download for Alternity on alternity.net. Its got a LOT of great data on ships (*excellent resource for Star Frontiers). It has some rules on fighter formations that could be useful if tweaked to work in this setting. Here's the link if you're interested

Thanks for the reminder.  I have this as well but had totally forgotten it.  I'll give it a look through for some ideas.
