Caveats for Issue 9
  • Were not sure if the layout artist will be available to do the layout for this issue. With that said, a few of us are going to try to make the layout like Issue 8.
  • Artwork is always needed.
  • Some submission will not make Issue 9 but will be in a future issue guaranteed.
  • The Star Frontiersman Team will be scheduling publication dates so that the community is informed.

Hey w00t I think I have the layout template (got it a while ago) it's from issue eight so it will work and with a few tweeks we can get an issue layout.

[Anyone submitting ARTWORK]

Please do not post your artwork on this site if you plan on submitting it to the Star Frontiersman Magazine. It could potentially ruin the surprise of the publication. :-)
I believe many readers do not troll or post on this site but I for one would be disappointed to see something one this site in the magazine. You understand.

Not complaining but....ya know the Magazine is really no surprise since I see all submissions. CryWink

What format do you prefer to have your art submissions in?  I had scanned in a bunch of old pencil sketches a couple of years ago.  These are from back in the mid-80's to early 90's.  They are in TIFF because I was told that it was the best format for desktop publishing.  I haven't done anything in years (decades) but I had been planning on touching them up a bit with Window's Paint program.  [Yeah, I know its pretty lame.]

Anyways, I thought I could send them your way and if you think you could use them; great!  If not, then that's absolutely no problem.  Besides, I'm not sure if my spacships are perfectly in line with Knight Hawk cannon.  There's no harm in trying, right?

PS- Is submitting as easy as clicking on that "submit" button I seen somehwere?

Yes.

Yeah dont worry about formatting, because everybody likes their own or has one they use by their computer's default.

There are guidelines on the submit page:
http://starfrontiersman.com/contact/submissions

Guidelines

Art submissions should be at least 150dpi resolution, be "family friendly", and preferably in PNG format. Article submissions should be done in .doc or .rtf format, have no special formatting: using only simple tables and headings of levels 1, 2, or 3, and should be double-spaced. All submissions should include:
  • Submitter's Name
  • Email address
  • One-line description of submission ('Subject' line)
  • desired byline (if it differs from Submitter's Name)
  • and an attached submission.
All submissions are being sent to Submissions@StarFrontiersman.com.

NOTE: Most everyone forgets how they want to be credited in the magazine, so remember to let us know.

Yeah the issue is currently being formatted. It should be out by the release date w00t has for it. We have been gathering all of the different articles and art and have been putting them together for the upcoming issue. Wish us luck... lol

No I havent been able to do any real work on the zine with w00t or Bill. I just started college last week. Moved eight hours south to go to ENMU. I am currently going into IS and History (dual major). So I have been busy with all that stuff. I hope to start helping out more this week but it doesnt look promising.

If anyone has knowledge how to use Word 2003 with layering and text boxes to put the articles together using Issue 8's format that would be helpful. I have an email out to Bill, let's see if he has time to finish up Issue 9. He is by far the guru of this project.

an alternative would be to use quark express ( which I have) for putting together the article. If you want me put together the magazine, let me know and I'll advise accordingly on emials, etc.

I have Word 2007.  There will be some compatability issues.  Not to mention I have no clue to do what you stated.  I will fiddle with it. See if I can come up with something.

No you wont have any compatability issues. Word 2007 has a compatability mode which allows you to edit Word 2003 documents. Thats what I was doing.
