Sathar Vessel Security Reprort *** Eyes Only - Classified **** SAV Prototype, Designation: Fatboy Intelligence Correlation: SAV Divisive Class Cruiser One of the larger “light” cruiser class vessels. This ship is slightly larger and more heavily armed than the standard UPFS Courageous class light cruiser. The Divisive class cruiser based on a size 13 hull compared to the Courageous class's size 12 hull. The Divisive class's armament includes a Disruptor Cannon, two Laser Batteries, an Electron Battery, a Proton Battery, a Rocket Battery with six salvos and a Torpedo Launcher with four torpedoes. Thus the Divisive class carries an additional Laser Battery compared to it's UPF counterpart. Defensively, these two classes of ships are identical each equipped with a Reflective Hull, Electron Screen, Stasis Screen and eight Interceptor Missiles. The Divisive Class is estimated to have a crew capacity of 90. Of these 30 represent the ship's command and operational crew (pilots, gunners, astrogators, engineers as well as various supply and security roles). The remainder of the crew space is devoted to housing a small marine detachment for boarding actions and small scale insertions. The ship is believed to be capable of holding up to two hull size two landing shuttles (Juliet class) each capable of transporting 30 fully equipped marines planet side from the ship. It is believed that the Divisive class has been designed specifically for inserting small to medium teams into enemy controlled areas. With it's good speed and firepower, a Divisive class cruiser can slip in, drop off it's troops and fall back all the while defending itself from attack. AZ_GAMER July 11, 2008 - 5:09pm | Thank you so very much to our resident analyst Terlobar for the tactical briefing on the new SAV Divisive Class Prototype. This vessel was last seen entering normal space outside the White Light Nebula and then initiated a void jump when detected by the UPF LP Daedalus. Be vigillent and immeditaely report any new sightings of this vessel to UPF Fleet Command. Dissposition Of Report: UPF Track# 35468 Designation "Fatboy", Identified By Analyst Terlobar And Classified As SAV Divisive Class Light Cruiser |
AZ_GAMER July 11, 2008 - 7:01pm | welcome aboard the UPF Daedalus, Spyglass Class Scout Ship, a state of the art mobile listening post dedicated to keeping a watchful eye on the skies of the Frontier. Thought not always a welcome site on the Frontier spaceways, (mostly because nobody likes being spied upon) the Daedalus and her sister ships, are the new backbone of the UPF's intelligence gathering and early warning systems. A motto among the new Spyglass crew is "Not Knowing, Is Not An Option". However other mottos such as "Stalking, the other spectator sport" and "Spying, the other spectator sport" have been rumored to be the crews' favorite despite UPF Command policies which suggest such slogans are not appropriate expressions of the Intelligence Division of the Spacefleet. When not "spying", errr, eh, emmm I mean observing the actions of the Federation's enemies, Spyglass vessels are often tasked "on loan" for special operations supporting starlaw and local planetary millitia. Stealthy and fast but lightly armed, these ships boast the most sophisticated senors, scanners, and intelligence gathering equipment. Often on patrol for extended durations these vessels are equiped with a new gravity generating centrifuge to assist with their prolonged missions and "stake outs". Lets take a look at the UPF Daedalus |
AZ_GAMER July 11, 2008 - 7:02pm | Inside the "skiff" or "Operations" module you will find the brave eyes and ears of the Spacefleet hard at work collecting and processing a vast flow of data from the ships powerful sensors. |
TerlObar July 11, 2008 - 8:03pm | I love it. Those pics are amazing. Ad Astra Per Ardua! My blog - Expanding Frontier Webmaster - The Star Frontiers Network & this site Founding Editor - The Frontier Explorer Magazine Managing Editor - The Star Frontiersman Magazine |
Rum Rogue July 11, 2008 - 8:20pm | Nice work!! This is a great idea as well. Time flies when your having rum. Im a government employee, I dont goof-off. I constructively abuse my time. |
Sargonarhes July 12, 2008 - 12:44pm | An interesting idea. I would thought a ship like that would be smaller in order to try an avoid detection. Then SF doesn't make a distinction of hull size and a ship's stealth ability.
And years ago I designed a Sathar Infiltrator ship for similar missions. In every age, in every place, the deeds of men remain the same. |
Corvus July 12, 2008 - 1:18pm | These pics are absolutely gorgeous. They really capture the "old rules, new feel" thing that many of us have tried to go for since the Revival started. More, more! If you wish to make an apple pie from scratch, you must first invent the universe. -- Carl Sagan |

Imperial Lord July 14, 2008 - 8:25am | Wow - what artwork! Outstanding! In terms of the Sathar crusier, I do believe that its MR and ADF are way too high at 3/3. That vast complement of weapons, combined with the Landing Shuttles, makes it the most powerful ship in either fleet. Unless, of course, the Sathar have discovered some new starship construction methods? Is that the point of this campaign? |
TerlObar July 14, 2008 - 9:22am | Yeah, it wouldn't be a bad idea to knock down the MR by a point and make it less maneuverable than an "standard" light cuiser. I just tossed something off for fun when I saw the picture. Ad Astra Per Ardua! umungus July 14, 2008 - 10:12am | Sounds like good material to put in the Starfrontiersman. Thanks for sharing the artwork too. At least I got to scare an alien rabbit thingy...... |
Imperial Lord July 14, 2008 - 10:16am | AZ - Did you do that bridge graphic? That is one of the most awesome bridge pics I have ever seen - if not the best. |
AZ_GAMER August 6, 2008 - 6:37am | Yep, thats my rendering, the mesh (the wire frame 3d model) and textures were created by commercial artists and sold as a product package to 3D artists like myself. The composition, the pose of the operator sitting in the chair, positioning in the chair, what components are assembled in the chair, the lighting, effects, camera angle, and finishing is all mine. Glad you like, there is a lot more comming, please feel free to use any of these images in your games or personal use, please credit me (SRM Creations) when displaying publically or reproducing. As far as the other races, well meshes are very very very hard to make, so most artists like myself purchases the models from other artists (who are running faster and more powerful equip and software) I have my eye on a model that looks a lot like a vrusk and with some tweeking might pass. I did my experimentation with a dralasite but am not entirely happy with the results, but it was better than nothing. Yaz, now thats one that just isnt supported out there, either all of the resources look way to ape-ish, not a lot of manes out there either, fur and primate features are not that hard to mod but the Yaz has too many animal characteristics rolled together to make a decent model. There is a model for them in anim8or but it is not rigged for posing (i know im talking greek) so there isnt much i can do with it in my artwork at this time. But I have a lot of yet to be seen aliens that may be making appearances soon so be ready with those imaginations to classify, codify, and stat the forth coming artwork. and here's a look behind the scenes at what the "operator" pic looks like when I get started when all of the 3d models have been loaded into the virtual environment and prior to assembly texturing and finishing |
AZ_GAMER July 14, 2008 - 9:42pm | UPF Mission Report Entry #071408: Day 2 Current Location: Prenglar System Current Operation: Day 2 Recon Operation UPF Track# 34592 Notes: Upon sucessfully completing our void jump to Prenglar we have entered normal space at the perimeter of the system. All departments check-in with no damages and only one medical issue reported post jump. Ensign T'kar, a 26 year old Yazarian male, was found suffering from void psychosis and was restrained by the duty watch marines. Ensign T'kar was tranquilized and placed in Stasis until he can be med evac-ed off ship to a UPF medical facility. Current crew compliment is now reduced to 24 and we will be short a hand in engineering, so all duty shifts will have to be extended to accomodate the loss. It has been a while since any of the crew has experinced any void sickness other than dis-orientation or euphoria. Strange what exposure to conditons in the void can do to someone. During the post jump briefing, Navigation Ofc. Lt. Curits reported that sensors had tracked a new boogey that passed us in void space. Normally such an occurance may have gone un-noticed by less sensitive passive sensor equipment, but on a recon ship it showed up like a sore thumb. The object will be tagged as tracking #34593 and listed as unknown object at this time as we are not currently tasked to investigate void phenomenon. We will relay the marker coordinates to a UPF exploration vessel and have them check it out at their earliest opportunity. Though it does have my curriosity, unfortunately in the void uncharted objects can be very dangerous to transit. At those speeds it's just another nebulous dark shape in a sea of black. Initial sensor data indicates that the object is moving under some form of propulsion and is composed of a unknown material that visually appears to be of a biological or biomechanical nature. Looks to be a vessel or large probe but could very well be space junk for all we know at this time. I dont like to enteratain speculation too deeply as it has a way of clouding your judgement. But I am curious to see what it is we have stumbled across out there. Capt. Xavier Raliegh, UPF Daedalus |

AZ_GAMER July 17, 2008 - 6:01pm | UPF MISSION REPORT ENTRY: #071508 DAY 3 CURRENT LOCATION: PRENGLAR SYSTEM CURRENT OPERATION: DAY 3 RECON OPERATION TRACK #34592 NOTES: Upon establishing standard orbit around Gran Quivera, a very crowded orbit mind you, a lot of traffic today at the hub, I almost forgot what a pain it was to park a starship in orbit around here. I do so detest intel operations in the core. All Departments check in and report all systems functioning within normal parameters. At 1511 hrs. standard time we deployed survielance drones to check the area and establish and interface with the global information network on gran quivera. I'll have to visit our resident information specialist, a gifted civillian expert named Amy who the UPF caught hacking their systems and gave her a job, who will be incouragable when she finds out we get ot hack the UPF Hub planet, oh this is going to be a very very long day. AZ_GAMER August 6, 2008 - 6:40am | UPF MISSION REPORT ENTRY: #071708 DAY 5 CURRENT LOCATION: PRENGLAR SYSTEM CURRENT OPERATION: DAY 5 RECON OPERATION TRACK #34592 NOTES: As I expected Amy, our resident information specialist, was more than enthusiastic about hacking the Gran Quivera planetary network, however at the moment we have her occupied repairing one of the malfunctioning orbital probes at her work station. All systems are functioning within normal parameters and we have three probes currently orbiting Gran Quivera and will soon deploy three more for Morgaines World. Initial data infiltration has been established but we will need Amy to work her magic to get inside the more secure locations and defeat any network security we encounter. At least we get free Holo-feed for the time being, the crew that is off their rotation has been raving about the vid selection and appreciating the perks of the job. Capt. Xavier Raliegh, UPF Daedalus |
AZ_GAMER August 6, 2008 - 7:38am | UPF MISSION REPORT ENTRY: #080608 DAY 20 CURRENT LOCATION: PRENGLAR SYSTEM CURRENT OPERATION: DAY 20 RECON OPERATION TRACK #34592 The crew has been working hard to sort through the endless stream of data comming from Gran Q. I think our resident Information Specialist Amy has gone paculiar with the 17 hour days she has been spending at her terminal trying to get some kind of fix on the elusive Morad. I don't know how long Starlaw and the UPF brass will tolerate the lenghty duration of our intrusion into the planetary network of the "Big Q", however on the a positive note we have confirmed through intercepted net traffic that the secretary of public works is indeed a frequent patron of a local cyber-escort and speaks volumes of his preferences for the Vrusk pleasure bot they have in stock. I think I will definitely need some serious therapy for the trauma inflicted by reviewing those reports. We did receive one partial data stream, heavily encrypted, via subspace to the Gran Quivera planetary communication network that may lead us closer to Morad's location. The subspace transponder signal embedded in the tramsission matrix matches the hijacked wartech frieghter. I believe the contents of the message to be a priority interest to UPF Command. 46985 Source ".........is the.... point. Confirm location again as m........... (break in transmission) 46986 Receiver "Affirmative", (break), "Will off load cargo at.........." (break) 46985 Source "Confirmed" (break), "Is there heat?" (break) 46986 Receiver "Negati...."(break), "Operation is go, codes are good" (break) 46985 Source "Good, Black Cell will remain in place awaiting extraction" 46986 Receiver "Extraction call is "Madderly" Abort call is "Dramune" 46985 Source "Copy, happy hunting" Wartech Cargo Freighter "Novafire" This data stream was received at 18:30 hours. It is evident that someone in Morad's organization is familiar with the UPF challenge call codes and maybe using them to lure UPF vessels into an ambush. Recommend all challenge codes for field extraction and mission abort be updated immediately. Something doesnt make sense about the transmission, I will have Amy rinse it through the buffers afew more times and see if we can clean it up anymore. Capt. Xavier Raliegh, UPF Daedalus |
AZ_GAMER August 19, 2008 - 8:10am | I will be taking a break from the Daedalus Project for a while to focus on an upcoming digital comic that I want to present at the Arizona Comic Con in the Winter. I will besure to keep everyone updated as well as post a self-less plug about subscriptions for the project as I get closer to completion ot the launch date. On a related issue, the comic book setting is often inspired and sometimes completely "play tested" at the game table with a modified version of Star Frontiers. So I plan on making lots of player resources using both Alternity and Star Frontiers Stats so eventually the comic's scenarios, storylines, and content could be used by others in their games. The biggest departures being that Earth and our galaxy is involved in this adventure setting, there are no Sathar but there are some badguys I have alluded to here at SF.us that would make the Sathar wet their skien suits and cower in the corner. There also are no Yazarians or Vrusk (or at least that have been discovered yet, sorry still no one has made decent digital models of a comparable nature at this time). However, I will include game stats for these races in the accompanying game materials. As far as the Sathar well if you want to throw them in the mix you are of course welcome to but they will want nothing to do with the new bad guys. I will try to keep alot of hard sci-fi involved as much as possible which this site has been really good at developing but in my fictional setting, horizontal to axis decks are used primarily, as well as initeria dampening, and FTL is a reality of interstellar travel (Sorry, I know some of our folks just cringed). I will keep everyone posted on available opportunities and of course will be interested in doing a lot of cross-promotional work here as well. (Rogue & Woot: When I know more about how much involvement I will have at the comic-con I will get with you guys about promoting the revival and Star-Frontiersman when I go. I know that at least one booth/vendor has already agreed to promote my products and hopefully I can get you guys at least some Poster Space or Flyer hand outs). More To Come. Project Daedalus: originally I had intended this as a community project and got some good input from a few members of the community. However, I tried to leave everything open ended to see if anyone would like to contribute to the story and there was no further interaction. Please feel free to contribute to the story if you like. If not, I will post some more later as time allows. |
elpotof August 19, 2008 - 2:35pm | I'd just like to wish you all the best with your comic book venture - you've certainly produced some awe inspiring work with the ships. I'm sure you'll do well. |
