Gergmaster April 12, 2008 - 11:53am | What do you guys here on SF US believe are the true core races of the Star Frontiers RPG? (please dont slam each other when you submit your answers).... Confucious Says: Man with one chopstick go hungry. Man who eat many prunes get good run for money. Man who live in glass house should change clothes in basement. |
SmootRK April 16, 2008 - 1:18pm | The cannon core races are Human, Yazirian, Dralasite, Vrusk, and Sathar (and Zurraquor but I am unsure if they are presented fully as a race entry). If you add the Dragon/Ares races to the mix you have Zethra, Sssessu, and Saurians. For myself, I find the Volturnus races to be worthy of addition as long as the timeline is advanced a little (which is why I wrote the series of race articles for the SFMan detailing them). For those who like Zeb's you can add Humma, Ifshnits, Osakar, and Mechanons. If I had my way, certain races offered would not be included in a 'total refit' of the game. Zethra, Saurians, and Ifshnits would never make my cut. Conversely, a few of the SFMan races would, notably the rehash of Mechanons (as well as the other Volturnus races), Vihm (again bias here - I wrote them), Nagana, and I like a couple of the Alternity races (Fraal, Weren, and another that I forget the name for at the moment), which I would figure out a way to work them into the timeline if I could. The frontier map would require a 'reset' as well, for no other reason than the totally unbelievalbe small region with improbable scale... but that is another topic. <insert witty comment here> |

Races encountered in modules and adventure are not core. Zeb's races are not core. Us Core and No Moore! |
Mycanid May 16, 2008 - 12:57pm | I agree with W00t on this one as regards core races ... But why not give room for the other races as possible pc's? I always thought the Volturnus and Zebulon races worked good as pc's ... although if it was me I would make sure there was more of a balance among the races stats wise for a beginning pc's character. Obviously this has been discussed in other threads ... lets see here ... :) @}-,-`- "It is a joyful thing indeed to hold intimate converse with a man after one’s own heart, chatting without reserve about things of interest or the fleeting topics of the world; but such, alas, are few and far between." – Yoshida Kenko (1283-1350), [i]Tsurezure-Gusa (1340) |
