Gergmaster November 6, 2007 - 11:55am | What should be the maximum number of races for this book? I discussed with CleanCutRogue that 34 races would inhabit the Frontier while the other sixty or seventy inhabit the rest of the galaxy. Does this work for you guys? SmootRK November 6, 2007 - 12:55pm | I think this will depend upon the individual Referee's idea of where the campaign should go. No reason to try to artificially limit creativity. So, I think you/wee should just simply exert our creativity and make races, and let the Referees decide upon their inclusion. If a particular race is popular enough by concensus, then some limited efforts can be made to include the race into timeline/cannon campaign material... but even then I think it should only be done lightly to not change the basics of the existing game. Some folks just want the core 4 and would be against a plethora of creatures, while others may want lots of variety. end of my 2 cents. <insert witty comment here> |
Corjay (not verified) November 6, 2007 - 1:15pm | No need to hurry is there? There's lots of races in the modules. As for new races, let it come naturally. Eventually you'll have enough to make a book from. |

Chameleon November 10, 2007 - 7:52am | Question: Should we add the races from the Ares articles in Dragon Magazine? I'm all for putting in as many races as possible and letting the Referees sort it out... |
Gergmaster November 10, 2007 - 12:49pm | Sure if its a useable race for Star Frontiers. Confucious Says: Man with one chopstick go hungry. Man who eat many prunes get good run for money. Man who live in glass house should change clothes in basement. |
Corjay (not verified) November 10, 2007 - 1:21pm | Ares? What races would those be? As far as I know, only Dragon magazine offered races for Star Frontiers. |
Chameleon November 10, 2007 - 4:55pm | As far as I know, only Dragon magazine offered races for Star Frontiers. Ares was the section of Dragon magazine that focused on other RPGs by TSR... Most notably Star Frontiers, Gamma World, and Marvel Superheroes... So, the saurians, the S'sessu, and Zethra are the only ones fleshed out there... |
Corjay (not verified) November 10, 2007 - 11:41pm | Well those races are just fine. They are considered official, especially since David "Zeb" Cook, himself (the game's co-creator and the only one that nurtured the game), created them. |
Deryn_Rys November 22, 2010 - 9:45am | Sorry I'm late for the party but those of you who who have gotten to know me, by my posts mostly know that I'm constantly pushing the boundries of SF. In my version of SF there are about 70+ races that exist in or near the Frontier with more to come. I don't have the original version of these races with their SF stats (those are on a disc I left in Canada) but If you guys want them I can try my best to put what I have back to SF stats for you. I posted a few in the main forum as an example of the races for my campaign, which if you want I can put them up here for you. I'll have to tweak the background info a bit to remove any reference to my campaign that might be in them but that shouldn't take too long.
