As most of you who are members of this project know, blackchip has passed the reins to this project to me.  As a neophyte programmer, I'm a little apprehensive of the task ahead.  But I'm learning the ropes in C#, and before too long, I should be able to start adding to the code that blackchip already laid down (which is, fortunately, a fair amount).

I'm putting this all out there as a "don't-hold-your-breath" disclaimer.
And a thanks to all that have offered to help already...

C# isn't too bad if you have a solid C or C++ foundation.  I would lend my help but I simply lack the time.  I hope you are able to get something going... this was the project on this site that was exciting me the most :-)  (basically just because I want to see that the site is capable of handing any kind of project anyone can come up with... and this one was quite different than the rest)

Unfortunately, the last programming I did before this was learning early Basic when I was about 10 years old (now 25 years ago...).  I can still do a GOTO statement, but classes, methods, and the .NET framework are all new to me.  But it's fun.  And without learning, we stagnate...  And now I can easily program a useless "Hello, World!" console application!  Wink

I am taking classes in game programming just for SF, so i can make a real game out of it. However, this thing called WOTC puts a serious damper on any public release of anything I do. Even the programs on here can be claimed at any time by the same people. This is because they have a hard time of making a competent game engine. And, yes I have tried to seriously read the material they have to offer, enough said. This is in my own opinion. I am in no way tring to make their sales drop they are doing well enough on their own.

An update is needed for this project. I have lost contact with Obispe for some time. The program that has been shared between us has too many bugs for it to be repaired. For me, I have dropped the current program. I have been reviewing some existing game engines that have come to me by course of going to classes to make game programs. I have entered into the 2D game programming and game engine development and scripting for game engines that already exist. There are two that I have come across that are at the price of free. One is the Torque game engine demo, the full version is $1,600.00 of which I do not have. The next one is the Unreal game engine that is free for the whole thing. However, these are FPS(First Person Shooters) engines. This project may fall silent but I will not let it die from becoming a reality. The plan is to find one that exists that can meet the gaming aspects from basic, advanced, and some kind of RPG capabilities.
At this point I would like to know if the green light is still on for this project to keep moving. Is there anything that needs to be said before there is much time invested.
NOTE: Even if I can not make a game of this nature, I will definatly make it for my own library of games for myself regardless of what anyone has to say or legal issues that come up. If this becomes the case, the only way it will be played is on my home network. This dream has and will be a full filled dream of my own, but I am willing to share if the legal mess does not get too deep.
