CleanCutRogue January 6, 2008 - 12:53pm | Refer to: Adventure Generator. Something for stumped Referees! If you want, we can make a coded generator for this either in javascript (like the random dice) or through php on this site. Good ideas! 3. We wear sungoggles during the day. Not because the sun affects our
vision, but when you're cool like us the sun shines all the time. |

Corjay (not verified) January 6, 2008 - 2:08pm | Thanks. I got the idea from a Star Wars adventure generator, but "as you can see, I made some special modifications myself." It generated 3 different Star Warsish plot lines, but I rearranged them and grouped the ideas to create a standard outline that would be effective for any adventure. All that's needed is to change some of the wording to reflect Star Frontiers. Primarily more generic. Here's the generator I got it from if you want to see how they did it: http://www.wizards.com/starwars/hook/hook_old_rep.asp# |
TheWebtroll January 6, 2008 - 2:35pm | hehehehe.... thought I saw a Jedi or two in there. :) The Webtroll ~Living UNDER the Information Super Highway |
Corjay (not verified) January 6, 2008 - 6:14pm | Okay, I've updated. It should all be far more random than the Star Wars stuff and completely generic. If there are any story elements that you would like to see added to any of the lists, just let me know in this thread. |
Corjay (not verified) January 8, 2008 - 6:04pm | It needs a little adjustment to the grammar syntax, but the generator works great. Here's what I generated: Interestingly, it seems very Zeb's-centric. On the world of Ifshna, things are not as they
seem. The characters are hired by benevolent gambler to travel to A
moon in order to convince a oppressive scientist to negotiate with his
enemy... but on the way they realize it's all a trap. The Humma
explorer sent along with them is a spy, working for greedy scientist
and under orders to keep the heroes from learning the truth! When the
players discover that the ships of an alien invasion force have been
sighted heading this way, they'll have to face Mechanon to convince a
band of bounty hunters to negotiate with his enemy. |
Corjay (not verified) January 8, 2008 - 6:50pm | By the way, you assume that everyone is tech-savvy with tags. I don't want to alienate anyone, so people can generate ideas in threads and I'll add them, though I'll keep the document editable. By the way, I can't seem to make it work. I tried double arrow brackets and single arrow brackets, but can't seem to make it work. |
Corjay (not verified) January 9, 2008 - 9:34pm | Check out what I just generated: At Anker, things are not as they seem. The characters are hired by a local scout to travel to a forest in order to pilot a starship through an asteroid field... but on the way they realize it's all a trap. The Humma scout that went along with them is a spy working for the alien invader and under orders to keep the heroes from learning the truth! When the players discover that a particularly dangerous predator has gotten loose from a private zoo and is preying on the locals, they'll have to face the Sathar to rescue a retired princess from the clutches of a group of renegade fighter pilots in order to get the help they need. Not how "local scout", "forest", and "Humma scout" were all generated separately and "in order to pilot a starship through an asteroid field" and "renegade fighter pilots" were also generated separately, and finally notice how the Humma is a spy and they have to face the Sathar. The only thing odd in this is the "retired princess". |
w00t (not verified) January 10, 2008 - 2:54pm | not bad. for my random planet stuff, Bill will have to add a lot more logic. ...maybe down the road, at least that's the plan for the project. or maybe use Java to program it in. |
Pinkster3000 January 19, 2008 - 9:03pm | Try using NBOS Software's website's Inspiration Pad Pro... it's free, fairly easily editable, and can generate a user-defined number of iterations, so you can find the plotline that suits you best. Not an ad, but I have downloaded and used this software to program a science fiction buzzword generator I found in an old Stardate magazine, and it works fantastic. Some of the premade tables are name generators, NPC descriptions, fantasy book descriptions, the ubiquitous goblin warband generator , in addition to fortune tellers, and even fantasy plot generators. Here is the link to the site: www.nbos.com . I will see about uploading the tables I did for the buzzword generator and the original software if I can. Results can also be made into html for addition to a webpage I believe. Pinkster |
