If we exclude those this sort of becomes a Field Guide not so much a monster manual There are approximately 260 organisms (flora and fauna) detailed in the pages of the SFman and the FE fan magazines. that were detailed for 45 worlds and moons in the cannon frontier. (there are 55 inhabited planes and 42 inhabited moon) IP creatures are 95 from the AD rule book and the modules: Alcazzar 13 but 2 of those are fan creations Sundown has 7 Volturnus has 44 but 6 are fan creations Mahg Mar has 9 Sathar creatures: 22 but 8 are fan creations Then there are fan created worlds that are outside the cannon Frontier Basilisk 13 creatures Torrent (Dinosaur Planet): 16 Archangel: 11 Balneum Blue: 88 Altogether were talking 490 organisms For scale the AD&D 1e Monster Manual had 214 If We include IP it presents potential problems with the IP holder. July 8, 2023 - 12:19am | But then it probably wont stay at 300 with just fan creations- I'm likely to create creatures as the work goes to plug holes: so maybe 320 when all said and done. I was thinking about this because I've been working at getting AI to do illustrations for sf creature - some require photoshoping but with AI it would be possible to have an illustration for nearly each creature. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
