Combat

In my opinion the strength of Star Frontiers action resolution is 1/2 ability score + 10% per level 
Its fast easy math easily rememberd and easily done in your head. Its the cornerstone of combat in star frontiers 

This breaks down with the skill system in AD which did not use the ability scores and was a system of 30% + 10% per level for one thing and 50% + 10% per level of character -10% per level of robot and ability scores have no impact 

Ability checks and saves are fairly straight forward roll under the current ability score. With STA this has the effect of an increasing level of dificulty as the STA goes down from combat damage which is something I like. It encourages players to not rush into combat and risk having to make a STA save at 5%


I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers!

So I think combat, ability checks and skill checks all should be ability score based 

and the core of that should be 1/2 ability score + 10% per level 

That messes up some of the skill checks from AD that are 40-80% + 10% per skill level and a few are 100%

I've previously advocated from task difficulty modifers (trivial, easy, moderate, hard, extremely difficult) but I feel like remember all those is fiddly and a challenge.

This is one existing task modifier in Star Frontiers -20% for alien tech, biology etc - I think we should keep this

task that are 100% chance in AD should be classed as trivial with the same 100% auto succeed or they are really 97% allowing for the critical fail and -20% if alien 

everything else is 1/2 ability + 10% per level 
task modifiers are -20% for alien and simply -5 to -20 for hard at GM's discretion with -10 or -15 being average difficulty 
And -10% per level of robot or computer when that applies same as in AD system 
a character using a hacking program or a computer security program against another computer would get that -10% per level for the computer or computer program he is going against but would get +10% per level for the computer program he is using 

some tech devices might give a bonus to a skill check and that would apply. 

I think this is work able. 


Combat 

simplify the combat modifiers as there is too many 

like range bands: Point Bland, short and long

other combat modifiers could be eliminated or combined or simplified
