The Worms and their relationship to fire

Caveat: half formed idea but thinking about Sathar creatures and variants and revisiting them it occurred to me that 2 important types (Cybo dragon and cybo slug) were purposely redesigned to use fire. 

One has to ask why?

The Sathar are covered in slime and leave a trail behind which isn't a great mix with fire. 

So why fire? Maybe fire actually scares them thus they view it as a penultimate weapon and engineer it into creatures.

Yes, I could see a fear of fire as a reason for the cybo dragon and cybo slug.

Maybe the ancient Sathar used fire against each other in wars.

I fear like it cant quite be tha simple that there has to be something a little more to this.
