    Links Page - Banner Resize

    Issue Number:
    62
    Severity:
    Moderate
    Description:
I created a link to a local forum that I started hosting (RPG Colorado). It looks terrible because of its size.

By default, the banner needs to be automatically resized to fit the space provided, or at the very least some parameters/limits need to be set and provided to those intending to submit links, rather than trial and error to find something that fits and looks nice. Rejecting of banners due to size should be communicated to those submitting, so that they can fix and re-submit.

I left the banner up without modification so that I can illustrate the problem better.  Fix/Delete as necessary and I will submit a new banner when possible.

I know what you're meaning. The problem is that I'm not able to see or detect the size of the image. It's a hotlink. Since the image is still residing elsewhere, I'm not able to detect or modify its size. I'll provide size guidelines for the hotlink...

If people really want to, they can upload the file to their own personal filespace on this server then resize it. If you go to your profile, you can go to your Personal Files and upload anything you want. Then you can resize it using the tools provided. Then you have an image with a url you can put in the links section. Of course, my original intent was to avoid people putting their banners on my servers and to force hotlinking... but there's nothing stopping you from doing as I just explained. Is this okay?  For now, I'll post size limitations and fix yours.

I can edit the image, no problem, then I will play around with the upload/personal files section a little (as suggested)... Do a little Quality-Control checking there.

I only left it there as is to demonstrate the situation of big images.  Feel free to delete the link, and I will do the process over again.

Nevermind, you already resized it appropriately.  Cool
