As some of you know the Star Frontiers (URS) project is the future arm of a more ambitious project called the Universal Roleplaying system. The goals of this project is to create a system of rules which can be used to create any number of Campaign modules in any Genre that are each 100% compatible with other Campaign sets, so that once you know the core rules of the System you can easily play any of the other games in the set.

The current URS project is based on the Star Frontiers (URS) 4.5 rules, so I'm wondering if there is any interest in my creating a project to distribute the URS rules and the variant campaign models, or should I just stick to continuing to post only Star Frontiers (URS) material here. Any feedback would as always be appreciated.

Like always these rules sets would be available for download by project members free of charge, for personal use, with no attempt by me to profit off of anyone's copyrights.

I guess if it's different that create a project for it so it's self-contained. No reason to mix Star Frontiers specifics with the broader game mechanics. Right?

Okay so there is now a dark little corner of the Revival where the Universal Roleplaying System can be found for those of you who might be interested in seeing a project that came about from a love of Star Frontiers that was married to a loosely based modification of 3rd edition Dungeons and Dragons. Of course there is more than 60% home brewed rules liberally sprinkled into that mix to replace 3rd edition rules that I had no use for to create the Star Frontiers (URS) 4.5 edition rules. This was then taken a step further to produce a set of universal rules that with a little creative effort on the part of an Administrator could be used as the foundation to create any Campaign model he can imagine.

So if you might be a frustrated game designer, who has an idea for a game, but can't fit it easily into an existing rule set, or if you're just a gamer who wants to play in a variety of settings but don't want to have to learn hundreds of different rules the URS might be just what you're looking for. So join up and see what this project has to offer.

Okay the Project is there and like the Star Frontiers (URS) has a lot to offer its members, including a complete 139 page Players handbook with the Star Frontiers (URS) 4.5 rules adapted for a modern day setting. An Administrator's guidebook that is 94 pages of material that administrators will find useful in creating Campaign models using this system which make up the two core books.

There is also a 206 page book detailing a magic system for the Universal Roleplaying system, and a guide to real world animals that is 157 pages of real world animals for Administrators to use in his adventures.

Future additions to the growing URS library will include adaptations of several popular game systems, and many original Campaign models if there is enough interest in this system. So If you might want to create a campaign model, but are having a bit of a time trying to fit it into your favorite system, or you want to play a plethera of games but hate memorizing hundreds of rules for each one, the URS might be right up your alley.

Though this project has not yet caught fire because it is far removed from the Star Frontiers norm and I haven't added many of the rules sets for the system, in an effort to apply those resources elsewhere if this project doesn't take off, I want to say that there is a lot of material for this project that just hasn't been uploaded but would be if this project gathers enough members to make uploading the material worth the space.

Currently there is a complete rules set for the Shadows universe (A game of modern horror) where players assume the role of one of seven species of supernatural in a generic urban sprawl (Angels, Demons, Ghouls, Ghosts, Revenents, Vampires, Werewolves). There's also it's sister game Shadows: Twilight Warriors which details mortal characters in this setting who are involved in their own struggles in the twilight between the supernatural world and the mortal one these characters can be normal humans, psychics, or mediums. Mages are already dealt with in the Book of Arcane arts, so they are not included in this book.

I also have the Players guide and Administrators guides done for Gamma World (URS) and a rules set for Adventuring in George A Romero's zombie universe called Rise of the Dead. I am working on the Sword & Sorcery rules set for this system, and there will be a lot of other campaign models for this system in the future.

So like I said before If you guys are interested in a wide variety of gaming campaigns but do not want to have to memorize a zillion rules for each individual game, or want to create your own campaign models but need a flexible core system to build your game on, this project might be up your alley. Of course like all the URS Projects these campaign models and rules are available to members only and are not created to profit off of anyone's IP but are the creation of a fan of those games or concepts, and are homebrewed versions for the private home use by those members of this "club" of gaming enthusiasts.
