    Document Section Downloads

    Issue Number:
    36
    Severity:
    Moderate
    Description:
Whenever I try to upload a file, it says "File is required" even though I browsed for the file and clicked "upload". I made sure all the other textfields were completed. Is it that it requires a picture file?

Maybe it's because you have two separate upload sections on the page, one without description and one with description. The description of the second one says what file types it accepts and PDF is not listed. Also, when you attempt upload on the first, it erases the upload of the second. So I think you need to erase the first one (especially since it doesn't list restrictions).

The top one is for a thumbnail image for the download.  It's supposed to say "Thumbnail" above it, but seems not to for some reason.  The bottom one is for the file itself.  The top one is optional (if you omit the thumbnail, it will give you a generic one just like when you omit a logo for a project).  The bottom one is not optional.

I have some issue with the download thing.  You're right... if you click "submit" after browsing to one, it tries to submit the whole form.

If you select an image for the thumbnail then select a file for the File... then click the over-all "Submit" button at the bottom of the form, all works great (except the lack of progress bar).  I will make sure that it says "Thumbnail" above the image download section and has some descriptive text.  I'll also make sure the "File" upload is clearly identified and clearly marked as a mandatory field.  I'll also get rid of the individual submit buttons, cuz people will hit them.  Finally, I'll work on creating some text near the over-all submit button on the bottom, something like "Please only click once. The file and image you selected will take some time to upload to the server."

Would that clarify everything, or do you have more suggestions?

Alright.  I made some improvements to the input form (including some nice instructions at the top of the form itself).  Please read through the form and see if it's better?  Then we can close this issue.

Alright - I figured out you were referring to the "Attachments" system on the Document section.  My mistake.  Yes - there were very specific types of files you could upload, and they aren't being listed:

jpg jpeg gif png txt html doc xls pdf ppt zip

Thos should be enough I think.  Try it again.  Don't forget that a file attachment won't show up listed on the document unless you select the "list" checkbox.

Looks good, especially now that the "Add New" button is back. ;)
