Howdy. Pleased to meet a bunch of follow Frontiersmen. I’m a long-time gamer, got my start in the summer of 1981, and I think I’ve played it all. But I’ve found that as I get older I’m drawn back to my roleplaying roots; Basic D&D, Gamma World, Star Frontiers and so on.

But the one thing I always loved about Star Frontiers, unlike Traveller, is how well it re-created the sci-fi I read as a kid. Our local library was stocked with endless anthologies collected from Amazing, Astounding, Galaxy, Startling Stories and other pulp sci-fi magazines – all written in the 40s, 50 and 60s; they had all the Heinlein young adult books too. Unfortunately, Star Frontiers was never really popular with my gaming group and when the KnightHawks boxed set came out, well, let’s just say that some people were unable to get past some of the more unlikely physics aspects of the rules and the deck plans. That pretty much killed interest in the game right there, except for me, of course. After a time I figured I’d never touch Star Frontiers again.

But when I started my nieces and nephews, being a confirmed bachelor myself, down the wondrous road of roleplaying I got the opportunity to re-discover my old favorites. And now I’m putting together an Alpha Dawn campaign for my youngest nephew. It’ll be space pirates, evil Sathar agents and menacing alien bad guys waiting to pounce on the unsuspecting citizens of the Frontier, with only the men and women of Star Law standing in their way!

Let the good times roll!

P.S.: I’m looking forward to exchanging ideas with you all.

Star Lawman, over and out.

Webtroll:  Thank you!

Corjay: Thanks!  I'm smitten with it myself.  Smile  I kinda assume from yours, which is also very cool, that you even know who and what my avatar is.  Your quote, on the other hand, is something I'd wish I'd had all those years ago, could have used some logic like that on my group.

I just wanted to add that I was drawn here by the amazing work being done by CleanCutRogue on the digital re-mastery and by you all on the terriffic Star Frontiersman fanzine.  It was so cool to find that quality of thought and research for a game I feel has been so over-looked.  I look forward to reading the forums here, I'm sure that they're loaded with great ideas.  Hopefully, I'll be able to contribute some as well.

Who doesn't know Rocketeer!? Smile Oh wait, w00t doesn't. His family locked him in the cellar for 30 years where he subsisted on coffee grounds. Tongue out

Salute Lawman.
We (my group) played Star Frontiers from the start, only because I had never heard of this game called Traveller you speak of till much, much later.
