I first played Star Frontiers along with Dungeons & Dragons back in high school in the early 1980s, and it inspired decades of gaming with various systems and genres. I currently live in eastern Massachusetts and have been running a homebrew space opera campaign whose roots in Star Frontiers are still clear.
