jedion357 December 27, 2017 - 4:34pm | Confession: im not a Dr Who fan. However, figured id record the Christmas Special since they were bringing the first Doctor back for a guest appearance. And as they would say across the pond, "It was bloody brilliant." Or at least that's how i feel about it. Like that they rebuilt the original TARDIS inside and out. Nice story and i like how it was determined that the 12th incarnation of the Doctor was the Time Lord of War. Enjoyable story even if youre not a big fan. Edit: it is however where they introduce the first ever woman Doctor which gives me pause. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
rattraveller January 6, 2018 - 3:10pm | Long ago while watching an episode of MASH, I first heard of Boxing Day. Some British Officers told the US Army cast that on Boxing Day roles reversed and the lowest ranking person was put in charge for the Day. Being the day after Christmas there usually wasn't much happening. Sounds like a great job but where did you say we had to go? |

I believe it was the dralasite produced holo-vision war comedy DASH. This sort of stunt sounds very dralasite-ish. No doubt with roots on Inner Reach or Terledrom. rattraveller January 6, 2018 - 7:12pm | It is sad to see what happens when Humans spend to much time hanging out with Yazirians and suffer the effects of repeated hang glider accidents. MASH Season 10 Episode 9 "Twas the Day After Christmas" first aired December 28 1981 according to IMDb. Hang out with Vrusk, we do tea and play ettique trivia Sounds like a great job but where did you say we had to go? |

JCab747 February 8, 2018 - 7:57am | generally no-one gets offended unless they go out of their way to feel like that That said, does anyone actually know someone that celebrates Kwanza or Ramada? Let me rephrase that: does anyone here in the US actually know someone that celebrates Kwanza or Ramadan? Furthermore has anyone at least met or encountered one? As a very late-comer to this discussion, I'll just throw in two cents... I say Merry Christmas around Christmas. If someone gets offended, that's their problem. If they are of another faith, I will gladly give them good tidings. Being from Dearborn, Michigan, which has had an explosing in its Islamic population since 2001, I have several Muslim neighbors who celebrate Ramadan... which is to fast during the day and party all night... Not exactly Lent as in the Catholic faith which I belong to... Kwanza -- if this has been pointed out already, my apologies, I haven't read all the posts yet -- is a "holiday" that was made up by a black communist in the 1960s to basically replace Christmas, New Years, Hannauka... yeah, I know about the PC bit about it to try to "bring people together"... Its similar to how the Soviets replaced St. Nicholas with "Frandfather Frost." But, say for Star Frontiers analogies, one could be on Kraatar and the Vrusk trade houses have replaced some traditional Human colonist festivities with something they manufactured, thinking it would please their colonist "cousins" yet causes resentment... Or flip it and say Kraatar's Human colonists have picked up on some Vrusk traditions, recreating them in a Human version to the consternation of the trade houses... Anyway, I'll go back to reading. JCab747 February 8, 2018 - 8:02am | I am also not a Christian. I don't get angry if someone says "merry Christmas." The problem with America is not that people are easily offended. The problem is that a lot of the people are intolerant and xenophobic. Thank you. Well, America has slipped into being a very litigious, easily offended, "snowflake" society... of course, during the winter, snowflakes don't melt as much. We have freedom of speech but too many want to shout down and eliminate other opinions they don't agree with. Freedom of speech is a vary valuable liberty. Joe Cabadas |
jedion357 February 8, 2018 - 8:48am | We have freedom of speech but too many want to shout down and eliminate other opinions they don't agree with. Freedom of speech is a vary valuable liberty. That's the thing you can have your say but you may not get your way. Shutting down other opinions is about trying to push getting your way ie control the conversation and you can control the outcome its the hallmark of a weak position that cannot tollerate other positions lest it lose ground. Political preaching down back to Star Frontiers. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
Tchklinxa March 2, 2018 - 9:18pm | Well this was lively... humm my family is very mixed so it is happy everything... Winter Solstice, Christmas, and more... The traditions celebrated come from a variety of countries ethnic groups and religions. Pretty much December is crazy... with all sorts of things that must be done with this side or that side of the family. On the bright side it usually means non stop Santa for several days, my kids loved that Santa or Father Winter or Father Christmas came multiple days at different family houses. My kids got a better than average exposure to religious traditions due to the family’s diverse background. As to intolerance I have worked with people who hate on nonChristians in Dec... got stabbed once for saying Happy Hanukkah on the first day of Hanukkah, the hate on my coworker’s face was monstrous it contorted her whole face... showed my friends the injury, she stabbed me with a metal tipped umbrella as hard as she could left a pretty painful mark in my ribs. Politics of the place I would have been fired if I complained... so I just stoped being around such a Toxic person. I personally don’t care nor am I ever offended when people wish me happy anything... and if a party celebration with fun traditions is involved I am game. I got my beliefs and I don’t think it is wrong to celebrate life and the love you share with others in life simply becuase we be different or have different customs. I was taught to include others in joy and explore your world not fear it. Peace all. "Never fire a laser at a mirror." |
JCab747 March 4, 2018 - 4:18pm | Yes, I try not bieng a toxic person. I have sometimes allowed the passion of politics to override my better judgment. While one can think they have a winning argument, you lose the whole potential to have a rational dialogue and at least come to an understanding with someone else rather than alienating everyone else around you.
