![]() October 18, 2017 - 3:50pm | We had some great suggestions for jewels in the original artifact thread: http://www.starfrontiers.us/node/9836 So the order on these articles will be Transportation edition in issue #22 The the weapons edition Visit Port Loren Public library and last of all is the jewels edition which should probably be on Clarion and take in the Crown Jewels of Clarion as well. Any of the stolen jewels like the Star of White Light will be exhibited via hologram. maybe some fine paintings? or fine vrusk statues? I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
![]() October 18, 2017 - 3:51pm | The Star of White Light, a head size diamond found in an the
dense asteroids of the White Light. System. The diamond was brilliantly
cut and placed atop the throne of the king. Sun light was directed from
the upper windows of the throne room by mirrors to always illuminate
the gem creating a halo of rainbows around the king and queen. The Star
of White Light was stolen by a human who repelled down over it and
bypassed the security measures. Surveillance cameras caught him in the
escape and he was captured a few hours after the heist but the Star of
White Light was not recovered. All that is known is that he gave it to
his spouse and accomplice and she has never been seen again. He served a
ten year sentence and was released under observation in hopes she would
be found through him but this has yet to happen. He now operates a
candy shop in Valentina and sells a crystalline candy that is a
miniature of the Star of White Light and has become a tourist must have.
The royal family hates the candy but tolerates it because they hope
through him to someday recover the Star of White Light. The shop has a
display of the throne room with one of the candy stars placed above the
miniature thrones and customers are challenged to retrieve the candy
star without setting off the alarms. He promises anything in the shop
to whomever succeeds. This has never happened and the rumor has grown
that if someone succeeds he will secretly reveal the location of the
real Star of White Light to them. However there are no records that he
has ever said this.
Vital Statistics: Weight: 135.24Kg, 676,200 carats Value: Priceless A
diamond this size in 1980 dollars would cost $7.1 billion. I don't
know if diamonds are as rare or valuable in a multiple star system
economy like Star Frontiers. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
![]() October 18, 2017 - 3:53pm | The problem with unique valuables like the Star of
White Light would be the nigh-impossibility in fencing them. The only
feasible thing to do with such a stolen item would be to cut it into
many smaller diamonds and subsequently fenced/sold individually. The
other possibility is a private collector that has made it known in the
underworld that he/she is interested in the unique item, in which case
any willing fence would have to make a profit between buying it from the
thief and selling it to the collector...in which case it becomes more
profitable to cut it/sell it off via its individual pieces. Yes, the Star of White Light may no longer exist and was cut
into many gems. Or it was delivered directly to the person financing
the heist. It could even be hidden waiting for the opportun moment to
claim the recovery reward. This is all stuff for the GM to play
with.

![]() October 18, 2017 - 3:55pm | How about a monstorous chunk of diamond from this exo-planet but brought back by a survey expedition? https://www.wired.com/2012/10/diamond-exoplanet/ actually its probably nigh unto impossible to land and take off from a planet of this mass with a 2 hour to 18 hour orbit around its star let alone remove a boulder in a ship where mass is an issue. probably have to do something creative like a massive meteor struck it ages ago and blasted a chunk into space. This is what was recovered by an "expedition to the diamond planet". I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
