jedion357 May 25, 2017 - 2:35pm | Just caught an episode of Forged in Fire- a reality TV show where blade smiths compete to produce a knife/weapon against time and each other. In each round one smith is eliminated with the last man standing being awarded 10K. Anyhow one smith was just eliminated because of cracks in his blade that the judges decided would likely fail during testing. It occurred to me that this could be a non magical cursed weapon- the miss forged (or miss crafted for something like a bow) weapon that has a percentage chance if fail. If it a -1 item 10% chance of fail per combat and the fail chance is rolled once. For a -2 item 20% of fail tested twice per combat (first to hits) and so on. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |

SFAndroid June 15, 2017 - 7:07am | If you want a cursed item in SF, just add nanites. Imagine picking up a weapon that infects your with intelligent nanites. "OH, so I'm not a good enough weapon, huh?" Hit with crippling pain that gives you a -20 stat across the board. The cut back your oxygen and make you intoxicated. The possibilities boggle the mind. They speak in your head and no one else can hear. The nanites draw extra power and you only get 75% of the powerclip to use as ammo. Yada yada. You can't argue with the invincibly ignorant. - William F. Buckley |

Could even allow for an initiative reroll out of self preservation of the AI powering the nanites. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
