jedion357 February 8, 2017 - 7:59pm | Why Outer Reach? Ruled by war Lords. And the site of limited intervention by Space Fleet, Inner Reach militia and assundry. Assault scout shout down on Outer Reach crew survives and must be rescued: enter PCs or PCs as crew of assault scout. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
TerlObar February 9, 2017 - 6:38am | This idea keep coming up. You had the idea for "Battleray Down" back when we did the Saurian issue but it was never written up. I'd love to see one of these fleshed out and submitted. Ad Astra Per Ardua! Shadow Shack February 9, 2017 - 8:12am | I don't think I've seen the movie yet. |
rattraveller February 9, 2017 - 4:11pm | The attempt to rescue POWs in Vietnam, the failed attempt to resuce the hostages in Iran, Black Hawk Down or last week's Seal Team 6 mission in Yemen you have the same basic military mission. An elite team goes in to get a high profile target (POW or hostage rescue/High Profile Enemy Leader/Intelligence collection) and things do not go like the clockwork plan it was supposed to be. Driven the low law level and mostly independent and criminal setting of Drammune there is plenty of these missions possible on all kinds of levels. Rescue the child of rich parents who went there on vacation/missionary/escape the parents mega-corp negotiation team kidnapped by local crime group Inner Drammune military unit who crashed/got left behind So on and so on Sounds like a great job but where did you say we had to go? |
jedion357 February 9, 2017 - 4:32pm | I like the title Knight Hawk Down. Its catchy and it begs the question where would an assault scout go down in a hostile environment that would mimic Somalia? I all for that question is Outer Reach during one of the Dramune wars. This could be a WoWL 3.0 or whatever with Royal Marine PCs or Space Fleet PCs either way. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
Shadow Shack February 9, 2017 - 7:46pm | The one story I have always wanted to convert to SF was Top Secret's "Lady in Distress" module where agents have to sneak aboard a luxury liner overtaken by terrorists whose objective is a microbiologist's handiwork. I keep blowing that project off, mostly because for the life of me I can not find my TS stuff. |
jedion357 February 10, 2017 - 12:38am | I keep blowing that project off, mostly because for the life of me I can not find my TS stuff. Sounds like the Achile Lauro hijacking. Well it reminded me of this hijacking. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
Tekrat04 February 10, 2017 - 6:49pm | I keep blowing that project off, mostly because for the life of me I can not find my TS stuff. Sounds like the Achile Lauro hijacking. Well it reminded me of this hijacking. Coincidentally the deck plans in module were based on the Archile Lauro. The module was published in 1982, the hijacking occurred in 1985. |
Shadow Shack February 10, 2017 - 7:20pm | It's TSR's fault for fueling the terrorists with ideas. At least that's how the lawsuit would be presented if it happened in today's litigious society. |
jedion357 February 10, 2017 - 7:30pm | Found the Lady in Distress module for sale on Amazon: $799.99 ! I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
Shadow Shack February 10, 2017 - 11:01pm | And they call the bad guys in that module terrorists... |
jedion357 February 11, 2017 - 7:54am | And they call the bad guys in that module terrorists... In your SS Corona conversion you need to have an NPC profiteer with a shade of slime and pretence at being a CFM (not really a CFM but trying to puff himself up as on) Just to be the Carpet bagger character from Outlaw Josey Walles when he's trying to sell the snake oil to Josey claiming it can do anything and Josey asks if it cleans tobacco juice before spitting some on the guy's white suit. Basically an anoying NPC foil the players wont mind abusing a little. "Yes Sir, One first edition of Zebulon's Guide to the Frontier new in the digital shrink wrap, never been used and a real bargin at 800 Cr, let me tell you. You just cant find these anymore." I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
Shadow Shack February 11, 2017 - 10:32am | I like it, I'll have to peruse the passenger list of charactes to see which one would fit that bill. For those not in the know, Jedion opened a new project and having found said aforementioned missing module, I am already submitting my timely idea there. {EDIT} NPC profiteer with a shade of slime and pretence at being a CFM (not really a CFM but trying to puff himself up as one) Just to be the Carpet bagger character from Outlaw Josey Walles when he's trying to sell the snake oil to Josey claiming it can do anything and Josey asks if it cleans tobacco juice before spitting some on the guy's white suit. It has to be Quinn, the passenger with the highest deception score @ 96. |
