Background: Lk’Kivi’tzz was born on Kdikit (Madderly’s Star) to a Vrusk real estate development trade house that was purchased by Streel Corp. shortly after the end of the First Sathar War. Her talents and abilities were soon recognized by Streel’s executives and she was given a number of challenging assignments, including being the third executive in charge of the mega-corps’ operations on Laco (Dixon’s Star) prior to the outbreak of Laco’s War. Although free from the strictures of her trade house upbringing, she uses her Streel titles as part of her name – like any good Vrusk – but accepts the fact that many non-Vrusk will use a nickname for her which sounds like “Kiv Its.” Rising to become a corporate vice president, Kiv Its was soon given the assignment to be governor of Corpco and also president of New Streel Development Corporation, which puts her in charge of all Streel operations within the star system. Much of her time has been directed toward the threat of the giant terropa to shipping traffic and strategies to eradicate the giant, metal-eating space creatures. For Corpco, Kiv Its sees great development potential as the colony slowly grows, she especially wants to see an expansion of the company’s mining and industrial operations. She is meticulous and likes well-ordered reports. Taking a dim view of “emotional flights of fancy,” she takes a dim view of any Streel employees who will not toe-the-line for the company and a dimmer attitude toward any agricultural subcontractors who’ve been brought to Corpco for farming but who’ve later balked at the company’s compensation structure. When it comes to the Darvig Kur, who is paid by Truane’s Star to properly survey the world, Kiv Its has turned into a frosty relationship. Initially the governor and the archeologist got along well, but his more recent reports about the future of the Streel’s colony have become “alarmist.” She feels that Kur’s work has begun to undermine her authority and her plans for future developments on Corpco, hence she’s ordered his messages to Streel headquarters and Truane’s Star to be heavily censored if not entirely rewritten. Although Kiv Its recognizes that something terrible happened to the first Human colonial effort and that an ancient alien culture ended violently on the planet, all those events seem consigned to the past. And in the past those tragedies should remain. Joe Cabadas |
JCab747 August 12, 2016 - 3:43pm | Name: Darvig Kur Title: Assistant Dean of the School of Science, New Capital University, New Capital City, Corpco (New Streel); professor of archeology, anthropology at the Schools of Science, Capital University, Capital City, Pale (Truane’s Star); Truane’s Star government special liaison to Corpco Race: Yazarian Gender: Male Age: 51 Abilities: STR/STA: 50/50 DEX/RS: 45/45 INT/LOG: 65/65 PER/LDR: 50/50 IM: 5, PS +3 Racial Ability: Battle Rage 16%, Night Vision, Gliding Handedness: Right Movement (walk/run): 10m/30m; 4km/hr
Background: Originally from Hentz (Araks), Darvig Kur’s parents came from two separate clans – Kesha (Hentz) and Hyrkania (Athor) His parents did not fit in well with the Family of One’s ideals so they took Darvig and his brothers and sisters and moved to Pale shortly before the Sathar invasion. When the worms attacked, several members of Darvig’s family were killed. He and two of his siblings ended up in a prison camp. After four months in captivity, he managed to escape and joined a resistance group, but his remaining brother and sister were not so lucky and went missing – presumed dead – after the planet was liberated. After the war, Darvig’s high intellect was recognized by the new Pale government, which included one of the leaders of his resistance cell. Receiving scholarships, Darvig went on to study at Capital University on Pale where he took an interest in archaeology, and got his doctorate and master’s degrees from University of Port Loren on Gran Quivera (Prenglar). He was friends with Geeko-sur Mang, the professor of geology from Capital University, who went on the original Volturnus exploration mission. He was also acquainted with the other members of the ill-fated expedition including Col. Louis V. Jameson, Itklikdil of the Vrusk Atlas Manufacturing Co. and Grod with Truane’s Star Civil Service. To his embarrassment, he also was friends with some of the Truane’s Star officials who betrayed the mission to the Star Devil pirates. When Streel Corporation made its move to formally apply for recognition for its Corpco (New Streel) colony with the UPF, one of the conditions for the corporate planet to receive a seat on the Council of Worlds was for the Truane’s Star government to become the system’s protector. Truane’s Star appointed Darvig as one of its liaisons to the planet, charging him with the task of trying to find out what happened to the original Human colony and what befell the ancient civilization – nicknamed the “glass weavers” – that had been on the planet. Over the course of time, Darvig grew from being dismissive about the reports of the tribal Humans that there are creatures called “brights” out in the woods or desolate locations to believing they exist. His archaeological digs indicate that a mass extinction occurred on Corpco some 20,000 years ago, which coincided with the destruction of the glass weavers civilization. He uncovered evidence that the destruction of the original Human colony may have followed a similar pattern. His reports – censored by the Corpco governor – have called for a halt to any further expansion efforts until a more complete investigation of these disasters can take place.Joe Cabadas |
