SFAndroid May 11, 2016 - 5:25am | Yes, I stole the picture. Sonic Disruptor Pistol Range - PB 0-5, S - 11-15 M - 21-25 Damage - 3d10,2d10,1d10 or Stun Ammo - Standard Powerclips or External Source ROF - 1 SEU/Shot - 4 Mass - 1 Cost - 700 cr The Sonic Disruptor Pistol is a Sonic Stunner that has been upgraded with high-power, rapid recharge capacitors. The sound emitter for the Sonic Stunner is the same as the Sonic Disruptor, but much smaller. The capacitor upgrade allows more power to be channeled through this array. While it isn't as powerful as an Electrostunner, it does have a bit longer range. However, like the Sonic Disruptor, the damage diminishes over the distance when used in Blast mode. When used to stun, use the Sonic Stunner range table. As with the Stunner, only a Sonic Screen, or hard vacuum will stop the beam. You can't argue with the invincibly ignorant. - William F. Buckley |

jedion357 May 1, 2017 - 11:39am | Awe shoot, we can't use the picture. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
Sargonarhes May 2, 2017 - 6:51pm | Isn't that a picture of a Klingon disruptor? In every age, in every place, the deeds of men remain the same. |
JCab747 May 3, 2017 - 1:58pm | Yeah, that's the Klingon distruptor. We need an artist to convert it into a Star Frontiers image! Joe Cabadas |
SFAndroid June 2, 2017 - 9:17am | Not a Klingon Disruptor. This model was first used before the Kllingons. This is the Klingon model. You can't argue with the invincibly ignorant. - William F. Buckley |
JCab747 June 9, 2017 - 5:37am | OK, so it's not Klingon, but it is a Star Trek the Old Foggies design from "Taste of Armageddon." How does one focus the sound beam from such a thing anyway? Joe Cabadas |
JCab747 June 9, 2017 - 5:39am | Now a Long Range Accoustic Device shows how a sonic weapon might be designed. Joe Cabadas |
gnytro June 9, 2017 - 8:03pm | So it's a sawed off sonic disruptor, with no long ranger? ~ Rich berentiu@gmail.com |
JCab747 June 10, 2017 - 3:20pm | So it's a sawed off sonic disruptor, with no long ranger? Yeah, it does look like a sawed off version of the Klingon disruptor. It seems to have the same handle. Waste not, want not with those props after all. Joe Cabadas |
SFAndroid June 13, 2017 - 7:12am | LRAD generator with the blades containing and directing the sound into a damaging beam. It might be fun to adjust the stun to an area denial shot. Those LRAD things can make you move away...fast. On the "wobble" setting, people have been known to barf. You can't argue with the invincibly ignorant. - William F. Buckley |

I like the idea of area denial systems- an obstacle to be overcome before you raid the lost space ark. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
SFAndroid June 26, 2017 - 11:29am | I have the artistic skills of a dog with a crayon. Here is a quick abstract of what I'm picturing. Any of the artsy folks able to flesh something out? EDIT - Dang it, I meant to make the Body an oval. You can't argue with the invincibly ignorant. - William F. Buckley |
JCab747 July 1, 2017 - 10:34pm | Or, how about a sonic weapon disguised to look like a blunderbuss? Joe Cabadas |
SFAndroid July 3, 2017 - 2:25pm | Why not add scent to sound? You can't argue with the invincibly ignorant. - William F. Buckley |
JCab747 July 4, 2017 - 6:29am | Is that a new Humma weapon? Joe Cabadas |
gnytro July 20, 2017 - 6:03am | I've always liked the game's sonic weapons, to me they were something that gave SF a unique feel compared to Traveller or other sci- fi games. That said, I do like the concept of a smaller sonic weapon option, I just think I'd scale the ranges and damage down a bit more to keep the Disruptor and Devastator relevant. I'll fiddle with the actual stats and post some ideas when I'm home and have the manuals handy. ~ Rich berentiu@gmail.com |

jedion357 July 20, 2017 - 6:48am | I was just thinking of a Sonic weapon version of real world defensive weapon ala stun gun or taser that is a vest/belt that if a character is hit with a Sonic attack instantly activates a Sonic screen reduces the attack to half damabe and initiates a 360 degree short ranged Sonic blast. It can also be activated manually. Uses a 20 SEU clip and each use is 5 SEU. Since only one defensive screen can operate at one time, if another screen is operating this nullifies the Sonic screen feature but 5 SEU is still expended. And 25% chance the other screen is disrupted for one turn. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
SFAndroid July 20, 2017 - 11:02am | I just went out and compared my Sonic with the Electrostunner and the Disruptor. It's pretty balanced for what it is. Max range is Medium, less damage than the ES or SD rifle and a shorter range than the latter. Old GM (sad that game ended =( ) really seemed to like it. This is a nice design. Use the extra space where the suppressor would quiet a shot as a sonic enhancing chamber. https://silencerco.com/maxim/ You can't argue with the invincibly ignorant. - William F. Buckley |
