Tchklinxa January 3, 2016 - 6:11pm | Okay this is a video of plants launching their seeds: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NsIojj4PzAo If you watch the video and imagine these as larger plants able to do damage to the poor PC's I think we got possibilities for mayhem... Violet = Cannon Ball Plant Touch-me-nots = Shrapnel Plant Squirting Cucumber = Rocket Mellon Just imagine these plants being in the wilderness of some planet. "Never fire a laser at a mirror." |

Tchklinxa January 4, 2016 - 11:58am | The Cannon Ball Plants could shoot a compressed seed ball the size of a baseball or maybe softball? I am thinking once a seed pod of these start shooting it is random directions until the pod is exhausted. So each pod has 3 sections with 3 compressed balls so each flower eventually makes 9 high powered flying cannon balls that are designed to burry themselves into the soil with force a distance from the mother plant... So Q's to think upon range ? rate of fire? I am thinking once it starts firing it releases a volley of all 9 seed balls over 3 turns. How many plants are ready to go off in a field or in a field? How many seed pods are firing per plant? When do these plants to go off? Random chance is probably the easiest to do game wise... there is a 25%??? chance at any given time they might go off when PCs just happen to be in range. "Never fire a laser at a mirror." |
jedion357 January 4, 2016 - 10:44pm | I don't know about scaling up to cannon ball sized but I do like rifle bullet size. Range in any case is fair short ( longer for bullet size). Bullet/seed imbeds in PC's body and causes infection as side effect from fungal/bacteria whatever. Might even be a local insect attracted to smell of spore or what ever and it tries to lay eggs in infected characters for an infestation. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
Tchklinxa January 4, 2016 - 11:22pm | I was thinking the Rocket Melon would have bullet seeds and basically act like a machine gun once it starts shooting, I am not sure how many seeds are in a water melon but I am sure it would be enough to ruin anyone's day... The Sharpnel Plant basically explodes sending seeds the size of say big Favas/Limas every where in all directions and can set off other pods.. Infection should be a danger, love the bug idea. Poor PCs... out for a nice day of scouting the rather pretty landscape and suddenly they are in a war zone, as the plant life start deploying their arsenal of seeds all random like... hurt and trying to get back to the ship, suffering from alien bacteria natural to the seeds and then the bugs move in blocking the path back to the scout ship... the previous scout ship had no problems as it had arrived in a different season. Who needs Sathar or Pirates when the plants are armed and dangerous as part of their natural life cycle! "Never fire a laser at a mirror." |
