Tchklinxa December 19, 2015 - 5:59pm | A cartoon creature from Ghostbusters Cartoon. It seems the species is called a "Brat" based on the 2 cartoons having the word "Brat" in their names. I like Brat or Bladder Rat to describe the critter. The "ghosts" seem to be aliens, robots, cyborgs, mutants and the like... Minus the high IQ of the Cartoon version I like the concept: Rat like head and forearms covered in fur, head of species also often has a mane of fur males short and upright much like a mohawk and females have a more flowing long fuller mane, big bat like ears, teeth are sharp and needle like. It has a fat bladder like body with 3 vents in the back, no legs but the creature has a more reptile like body that is scaled and can slither upright or prone along the ground. It's bladder like body produces gasses that allow it to float and the 3 natural air vents in it's back allows the creature to propel it's self quickly and maneuver it's body in flight. The creature has sonar like a bat, a keen nose, forms male female breeding pairs, raises nests of young. The female gives live birth to 1d10 pups. They have an animal IQ. The tail of the Bladder Rat is prehensile and they can hang from it if they choose or use it to carry items or latch around things. This is a 1 meter long creature. jedion357 January 5, 2016 - 12:13pm | What if its a cross between a rodent and a puffer fish. It's digestion or other metabolic process produces hydrogen which it stores in a bladder. The creature also has 6 grasping legs that it uses 2 pairs to grip rocks or branches to as ballast. And given specimen will have excess gas to vent for limited propulsion. They can drop ballast to rise or vent gas to drop and "jet" to a new tree. Shooting one is explosive. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
Tchklinxa January 5, 2016 - 6:15pm | Not bad ideas... I need to finnish this up. "Never fire a laser at a mirror." |
jedion357 January 5, 2016 - 7:39pm | Likely a slow moving herbavore like a sloth. Danger might come from startling one or more that drop 1d3 ballast rocks to rise higher to put more distance between themselves and PCs. And of course the hydrogen thing. jedion357 January 5, 2016 - 7:40pm | Evolution probably gave them some immunity to fire as a necessity. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
