jedion357 July 5, 2015 - 9:00pm | I read a recommendation for these two shows on line but can't run down the original post so I apologize if its around here somewhere and I'm being obtuse. At any rate I've now managed to see 2 episodes of each and i'm very much in agreement with the original post that either one would be good campaign ideas for SF. Dark Matter involves a crew of a ship waking up without any memories and secrets galore emerging over time. Killjoys is about interstellar bounty hunters who renounce all allegiances to be badged bounty hunters who are neutral with no politics and individual characters seem to have secrets. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
SFAndroid July 6, 2015 - 9:04am | I thouroughly enjoy both shows. I like Dark Matter's twisty plotline and Killjoys action with a little bit of humor. I've been an Aaron Ashmore fan for quite a while. I like the science-ish behind both shows. I'd like to see SF in a Dark Matter or Killjoys universe. I kinda like the "High-Tech Grunge" genre. You can't argue with the invincibly ignorant. - William F. Buckley |
jedion357 July 6, 2015 - 1:16pm | The basic plotlines of both are very usable. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
bossmoss July 8, 2015 - 1:10am | Hmm, I might have to check those out... |
jedion357 July 8, 2015 - 4:35am | Dark Matter though either the players would have to be game for the referee writing in secrets about their characters that they have to discover or unravel or players would have to work with the referee to develop some secrets but I think it would be better if they player dont know what the secrets are. referee should write out a list of secrets numbered 1-20 and players blindly choose two numbers at PC creation or a list of 1-10 and PCs blindly choose 1. Secret is kept secret from PC but PC gets a clue like a ring with odd design or has a weird tattoo. As the campaign runs and they get opportunities to seek answers those answers should cause more questions. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
Tchklinxa July 8, 2015 - 10:50am | Nice I like the idea "Never fire a laser at a mirror." |
jedion357 July 15, 2015 - 9:06am | I just caught up with this past weeks episodes and I definitely feel killjoys works as a SF campaign with corporate powers that behave badly. Dark Matter has new revelations each week but these usually lead to new mysteries it would call for a lot of role play and work on the part of the referee. Of the 2 I think I like killjoys the best. And now I've lost all interest in Defiance preferring these two new shows. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
bioreplica July 15, 2015 - 2:58pm | The forum eat my detailed post. In short : Don't like Dark Matter. Bad acting, weak writing. LOVE Killjoys. «Language is a virus from outer space» William S. Burroughs |
jedion357 July 15, 2015 - 6:29pm | With Killjoys I love the way they substitute the word joy for credit or money as it ties into the title. The special effects are not major motion pic quality but they are not bad. It works rather organically in the script "trying to get a little joy (credit)" and so on. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
