Tchklinxa June 17, 2015 - 4:55am | Link to what started as Gamma World conversions but morphed into a variety of subjects http://sfus.starfrontiers.info/node/8431 "Never fire a laser at a mirror." |
jedion357 June 19, 2015 - 7:39am | The Gamma Dawn supplement was rather thin. I suspect that most people downloaded and saved it but never used it. So if you do do some deeper development of of this I think that would be a good thing. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
Tchklinxa June 19, 2015 - 10:11am | I will probably pick another critter to plug away at soon. "Never fire a laser at a mirror." |
Tchklinxa June 20, 2015 - 9:44pm | Okay uploaded the Badder and fleshed them out... probably way to much, but dang they are a fun little race & I like badgers. They will need work to make them fit into SF better though. I will see about getting the update Lurker fixed on planet of origin for right now... as it should read unknown right now. Next up: Barl Nep Type: Number Appearing: 1 Move 12 meters SF STA = 190Th barl nep is a totally black fish that can attain a length of up to 1 meter. If attacked, it will secrete a radioactive oil (intensity 18) that covers an area 10 meters in diameter. This radioactive oil will last up to 10 minutes in calm lake or pond water. If caught and killed enough oil to make a 10 minute radioactive oil slick (intensity 12) may be extracted from its body.
As you can see I need to convert the raditation rules... if I remeber right 18 is real bad, real real bad... off to go reread GW raditaion effects at 18, I also need to add a little more info for SF on critter stats.
This critter needs a background, is it a native species on a planet or a Sathar bio-form? "Never fire a laser at a mirror." |
Tchklinxa June 20, 2015 - 10:54pm | Well 18 intensity is a 20% chance of mutation even against the highest CON (18) in GW & an additional 80% chance of death... like I said bad. So I could consider it a 100S which when divided by 5 equals a 20% chance of mutation on day 1. Not sure what I should do for duration mulling it over as the systems are so different. "Never fire a laser at a mirror." |
Tchklinxa June 21, 2015 - 9:46am | One of the differences between GW & SF is how radiation is handled In GW Radiation does HP damage until you hit the M & D options and that is when Mutations and potential death just from brief exposure can happen. Part of me thinks it should still do damage... And the radiations # is matched against the CON of the PC and a chart decides how bad bad is for the PC based on that... I am thinking the critter above is really not the River Monster anyone wants to catch... I am thinking duration of effect should be more than a day for #18 radiation Also radiation exposure in GW is melee based versus day based... I think there is a module with a melee based example in SF, I will go reread that. "Never fire a laser at a mirror." |
Tchklinxa June 21, 2015 - 12:29pm | Thinking about this: GW Radiation #’s 1-18 correspond to SF Intensity or
Strengths as follows: 1 = 1-5 2 = 9-10 3 = 11-15 4 = 16-20 5 = 21-25 6 = 26-30 7 = 31-35 8 = 36-40 9 = 41-45 10 = 46-50 11 = 51-55 12 = 56-60 13 = 61-65 14 = 66-70 15 = 71-75 16 = 76-80 17 = 81-89 18 = 90-100+
What do you all thin? <!--EndFragment--> "Never fire a laser at a mirror." |
Tchklinxa June 21, 2015 - 1:25pm | Barl Nep Type: Number Appearing: 1 Move 12 meters SF STA = 190 Does that make sense? on the Radiation? "Never fire a laser at a mirror." |
Tchklinxa June 21, 2015 - 2:25pm | Okay did more editing and research on Fish I am posting it in Downloads, take a look at final product folks let me know what you all think. "Never fire a laser at a mirror." |
Tchklinxa June 21, 2015 - 2:41pm | Oh I need to add picture... will reload. Next Critter The Ber Lep: "Never fire a laser at a mirror." |
Tchklinxa June 21, 2015 - 3:13pm | Next the Blaash is up "Never fire a laser at a mirror." |
jedion357 June 23, 2015 - 3:27am | I would suggest putting most of these downloads in the Documents section of this project 1. the documents organize as a tree with the first branch being Gamma world critters then all the critters would be new pages off that. 2. the document pages can be endlessly edited and thus the critter can go through numerous versions with less work 3. a comment on a document page automatically creates forum thread with a link to the document 4. there can be a bit of a mental hurdle for someone download and open a doc, read and go locate the appropriate place to post on it, though the download page does allow for comments. Point is that the documents are only one step away with a posted link where as there are a few steps away with a download, documents are just more assessible. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
Tchklinxa June 23, 2015 - 4:51am | Do I just copy & paste to put a document up in that section? Or am I missing something? "Never fire a laser at a mirror." |
jedion357 June 23, 2015 - 6:09pm | copy and pastes can be problematic from word or even from the web if you haven't noticed yet but copy and paste within the site works fine. but it looks like you've figured out how to do a doc I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
Tchklinxa June 28, 2015 - 12:59pm | Having issues with site today: So posting this in here: Comments welcome need a background idea for this critter... I plan to convert them all then folks and pick and choose what works for them: I was thinking GMO for Warfare/Police purposes, very uncommon but used none the less... out here the sheriff has moved away from normal sized horses to using Draft Breeds... so could be an idea from a colony that found horses more useful than technology in certain situations. Brutorz: Type: Large Herbivore Numbering Appearing: 1 (2-12
in wild herds) Movement: Medium: 11 meters/
55 meters max STA: 114 STA IM/RS: 6/55 Attack: 45 Damage: Kick 1d10, Bite 2d10 Special Attack: Special Defense: Native Planet/Habitat: Plains Standing well over 2 meters
high at the shoulder, a Brutorz is powerfully muscled and very broad. These
neo-Percherons (mutated horses) are quite intelligent (with a LOG of 49) and
are particularly partial to PSH individuals. In addition to their great size, strength,
and intelligence, the Brutorz species is remarkably agile for their bulk (1000
kilograms), and all have precognition. In combat, these creatures can deliver
stunning kicks – 1 dice of damage (1d10) per forehoof – or a vicious bite for 2
dice (2d10) of damage. Well fed and treated with respect, the Brutorz is quite
willing to serve as a mount for humans and humanoids. "Never fire a laser at a mirror." |
