jedion357 April 21, 2015 - 3:52am | Interesting article in the NY Times on the benefits of having a hobby with particular focus on the neurological effects in the brain. http://www.nytimes.com/2007/12/03/business/worldbusiness/03iht-workcol04.1.8567149.html?_r=1& So can RPGs be a hobby? I think yes. I'm heavily involved in the fan magazines and I believe that its part of my sanity solution for the crazy world I live in but something about it is lacking in a way that painting wargame miniatures better fits the information in this article. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
Shadow Shack April 21, 2015 - 1:05pm | It must be a hobby. Back in the 1980s when it was still new and available I used to buy a lot of my stuff from these places called HOBBY shops. |
rattraveller April 21, 2015 - 1:34pm | If you are still playing and posting on this site congrats you have moved from hobby to obsession. Sounds like a great job but where did you say we had to go? |
RanulfC April 22, 2015 - 6:57pm | Can't have obsessions, I have AD(no-H)D so I keep getting told that makes it impossible, must be a hobby :) Randy |
bossmoss April 29, 2015 - 9:58am | RPGs are my hobby, and will make me live longer. |
Tchklinxa April 29, 2015 - 11:08am | Yes "Never fire a laser at a mirror." |
Abub May 1, 2015 - 11:28am | It is either a hobby... or playing "make believe with dice". Hobby sounds less silly. ----------------------------------------------- |
Shadow Shack May 2, 2015 - 2:14am | Hobby sounds less silly. Nonsense. Before playing make believe with dice was in the main stream media, George Lucas made it socially acceptable for older boys and grown men to play with dolls. |
