More Skills for A Skilled Frontier?

I'll be running a table top game and I've chosen to run Star Frontiers. It was a favorite of mine way back when and I am so very happy to find that there is still a zealous following out there. I've decided to go with the A Skilled Frontier rules and was wondering if there is any advice from those who have used it? Are there other skills that I may want to offer my players?

FYI right now, I plan on starting with the Volturnus series but may change my mind and go with a space freighter game to better showcase the setting.

I think Skilled Frontier is fairly thorough and flexible. However if a player were to ask about a skill that did not seem to be on the list you can simply add it in the appropriate skill area.

Also if the characters were to encounter say a grav sled and the players said "What skill to drive this thing, I would come back with: Hover vehicles skill or a flying skill.

By default I assume all or most characters can drive a ground car or explorer or truck without skill what they need the skill for is combat and dangerous maneuvers. Hopping in the car to go to the PGC show room to pic up some 20 SEU clips is trivial and no skill required IMO. This presupposes nicely engineered roads with traffic control devices all with a thought to public safety- on Volturnus its rough so you'd want the character with skill driving or enforce an hourly check to see if the character gets into trouble- vehicle's wheels mired in loose sand, small collision, etc. (note unskilled skill checks are 1/2 ability score and -20 for lack of skill)

I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers!

Thanks.

Do you use the modifiers added by Tasks of a Skilled Frontier from Star Frontiersman #16? I found it interesting that he chose to apply bonuses to easier tasks rather than penalties for harder tasks.

And what are your thoughts on the PSA skill system also in Star Frontiersman #16?
