jedion357 February 21, 2015 - 7:02am | With albedo suits and in particular the albedo screen that provides superior protection there is no reason for the Frontier to not see the rise of an aggressive form of laser tag or something similar as a gladitorial sport. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
Stormcrow February 21, 2015 - 8:23am | Certainly. Set your laser to 1 SEU (or use the approved-for-civilians sport-laser that is locked to 1/10 SEU) and turn on your albedo screen. As soon as the screen goes fzzt! you're out. |
TerlObar February 21, 2015 - 11:07am | And if you want to play dangerously and gain a little stealth by not glowing, you can turn it off. But if you get tagged with it off, you're out. jedion357 February 21, 2015 - 11:53am | There was the incident of juveniles in the stadium using invisible X-ray laser pointers to influence a game's out come. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
Malcadon February 21, 2015 - 12:32pm | Can you imagine American Gladiator-styled competitions (loud costumes and all) where players do stuff like obstacle courses, Rollerball-styled sports, sparring (unarmed and with weapons), and laser-tag-type games with low-powered lasers, gelled gyrojet slugs and/or paintball markers? They would likely be based off of military training, and requires military PSAs to be great at it. I can imagine the above examples being their own games, with larger events based on competitors who can do much of the above really well, kinda like the Olympics. |
