old stuff

I was a player in SF for maybe 6 times in the early days. The old stuff was our groups bread and butter. Boot Hill, Top Secret, AD and D, etc. Recently a friend from that group reunited with us, and wanted to play SF again. As I said, I was not a referee at the time, but as my hazy years old grey matter seems to recall. the climax of our mission was attampting to capture a Sathar alive (I know, practically impossible!). I believe this was 1982 or 83.

Was there a module of somekind that detailed this, or was it a figment of our referees imagination at the time? We spent like two gaming sessions and finally came back with one alive (temporarily). I have downloaded everything I have seen, and glanced at the details of the existing modules, but have not seen that plotline. And, HEAVens!, the Sathar have progressed in some cases to being player characters! Was there a point in time where Sathar were never studied before?  a big unknown...Rewards offered and methods tried for capturing one? Was there any module that detailed this?

That was kind of the premise of the original game.  I don't think there was a model specifically although in the Beyond the Frontier series of modules that came out for the Knight Hawks game you capture a couple of sathar ships.  There is also one sathar captured alive but in a form of hybernation that dies as soon as he wakes up.

I suspect your adventures were ones made up by the referee as those modules didn't come out until 1984.  There defintely isn't anything like that in the early ones.

Agree with Terl Obar sounds like the referee's home brew or adaption of the Beyond the Frontier campaign.

Hey, Admiralwells looks like Snake Pliskin, I thought he was dead? Laughing

PS: there's a movie they never did a remake of!
I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers!

I agree abt the remake!  escape from LA was so poor as to not be a parody. working with 5 players soon. 4 who have maybe played in the way back machine, and 1 who hasent. wish me luck!
