jedion357 November 19, 2014 - 9:45pm | fans have posited yazirian brandy and blood wine drals like adding stuff to the hot tub to get drunk but what is on tap in the Frontier these days? How about Pale's Pale Ale (sort of a Frontier version of an IPA or India Pale Ale)? call it a PPA. How about fermented fungus bugs for the vrusk? a fungus bug is about the size of a foot ball and the vrusk put them through a process that causes their digestive track to expand and ferment. When the fungus bug is properly aged (in under ground dirt root cellars) it ferments in a way that can provide a kick to vrusk (one bug is the equiv of a bottle of wine) the vrusk bite off the anus of the fungus bug and slurp the juices out. the most rare vintages of fermented fungus bugs are from Madderly's star since this intoxicant is no longer produced there. these fungus bugs constitute a rare item of great value 500 Cr / bug generic fungus bugs are 12-25 Cr / bug with final praise being for those last few supporters of King Johng have fled English territory. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |

Karxan November 20, 2014 - 7:42pm | I think I had some drinks in my Doc McGee ads. |
Tchklinxa November 20, 2014 - 9:36pm | What about an alcohol from a fruit that is normally very toxic, maybe it is an acid poison in its ripe raw form but after the secret fermenting process only one race has a 100% chance of drinking it without dying and all other races must cut it and even then it can be dangerous... maybe a rare drink from the Rim? Don't forget all the weird things people love to put in the RL alcohol I have seen Beer with Chili Peppers in it, Rice Wine with Lizards in it, Cactus in the alcohol, & of course the Worm. So I would think there would SF versions... how about GMOed translucent frogs, or neon fish, or weird alien critters. "Never fire a laser at a mirror." |

Perhaps the fermentation process finishes the translucency - my kid is making rock candy and the straw we used leached all of its green dye into the water making it almost green black with the vanilla extract in there. [/quote] Oh that is cool... there is also drinks with gold in it, you could have non-toxic rocks... also how about a gimmick like "astro crystallization" (a process in which at some point the drink is frozen in space "Never fire a laser at a mirror." |
Karxan November 21, 2014 - 4:50pm | I read in a book called "The Man Who Never Missed", that humans would drink anything. There was a drink called a Shin's Kiss that was some alcohol with cucumber in it. The cucumber was soaked in human urine for 2 weeks or so before putting it in the drink. So who knows what might come up in the Frontier. |

I read in a book called "The Man Who Never Missed", that some humans would drink anything. Fixed that for ya. ;) Given the chance at a monetary prize, there are some people out there that really will do anything no matter how asinine, dangerous, ridiculous, or any combination thereof. A chance, mind you...not a guarantee --- in other words those people will actually compete for it. |

Sounds like a humma concoction. -iggy |
Tchklinxa November 21, 2014 - 11:05pm | I was thinken' Humma in fact... Roo-Roo Fruit "Never fire a laser at a mirror." |
jedion357 November 22, 2014 - 4:41am | Good call on the humma concoction. slang name is Roo-Roo Fruit I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
jedion357 September 12, 2016 - 7:18am | Rim Shot: made with whats been called Capellan Rum: it's not really rum but it's dark, full of stimulants, and popular with the ifshna. Triple distilled Humma Wash: it gives new meaning to rot gut. Non humma must make a STA save against its poisonous effects (-1 STA every hour for 4 hours, [ was thinking to add it a nasty secondary effect: STA save against vomiting every hour]). Some humma clans have the tradition of beginning negotiations with a shot, anyone wishing to cut a deal with such a clan will need to toss back a shot and act as if nothing is wrong. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |

Which one? Rim Shot or 3x distilled Humma Wash? There's two. Needless to say there is also 1x & 2x distilled Humma Wash but you don't even want to contemplate drinking these if the spacer myths about why it's called humma wash are true, LOL. jedion357 June 1, 2023 - 9:21am | Need to revisit this, specifically as a side bar of for what's being served in a Rim bar for an article I'm contemplating. We have ifshnit and humma drinks but what about the osakar? They are mobile plants so maybe they don't take any intoxicants but enjoy a class of drinks called fertilizer that are heavy with minerals and nutrients I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
Tchklinxa June 14, 2023 - 5:42pm | True they might drink things that other species would find gross or deadly. Something like Miracle Grow might be given as a shots! Ethanol is actually supposedly good for plants. "Never fire a laser at a mirror." |
jedion357 June 18, 2023 - 11:07pm | Something like Miracle Grow might be given as a shots! Ethanol is actually supposedly good for plants. Well one of the Humma special abilities is poison resistence? so yeah they very well could drink something toxic to everyone else I like the ethenol idea need to confirm its good for plants I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
Tchklinxa June 22, 2023 - 5:41am | I went and did more poking around alcohol is not good for plants. It stunts their growth a bit, slows it down per the science site I finally found... previous site I looked up was all BS (got to love the net). However I would rule plant pc can get drunk... lol. "Never fire a laser at a mirror." |
jedion357 June 25, 2023 - 5:34pm | I was working on some prep for a PbP game set in the Rim and come up with Osaka Sludge- the prefered drink of the oskar but no one else will drink as it is largely fertilizers in a glass with liquified moss that makes it a bright green, does it make them drunk? I would say invigorated but maybe the liquified moss has a mild effect that mimics alcohol intoxication? I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
jedion357 June 25, 2023 - 9:57pm | Cryxian Bug Juice Also called Cryxian Whisky, - humma love it but it is disgusting to every one else. Made from pulped and strained Cryxian Roaches blended with whisky analoge Discerning humma demand single hatchings of Cryxian Roaches and aged 10 years. Less discerning humma drink the 2 year old mixed hatching batch because its cheap. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
