So my main Star Frontiers campaign has come to a close.  Real Life intrudes once again... people move away, move on, etc.

For a while, I still had my family campaign, but that has come to a /pause/ because my kids have decided that they want to take a break from Star Frontiers to play D&D for a while.  That's why I haven't been here lately.  I've been running D&D!

It's been fun, and I'm certainly glad to be doing ANY gaming, but I keep finding myself thinking about ideas for my Star Frontiers campaign...

Also keep in mind I guess... the SF rules in general were produced in a rodeo of missmanagment.  So I guess we should be happy they are as good as they are.

AD & KH were play tested prior to publishing. Big difference. Wink
I'm not overly fond of Zeb's Guide...nor do I have any qualms stating why. Tongue out

We're they? I was under the impression that LS and Zeb Cook had developed Alien Worlds RPG as an open ended sand box sort of game and at the last minute TSR sent it to the drawing board without LS and Cook being a part of it to be redone into a canned setting aimed at 12 years olds and with the worm like race cast into the role of the bad guy aliens (sathar). The various parts were being worked on separately by people not communicating with each other and that it was slapped together by who ever had the editing role which may have been Steve Winter but I'm not sure. Thus we get AD with a little bit of wonkiness in it.

The two main criticism I have of AD is that sometimes its laid out in such a way as to be counter intuitive when you are looking for a particular table or bit of information that its not where you'd expect to find it- that I chalk up to the last minute redesign and rush to publish. Also the vehicle rules are a poor fit and again I chalk that up to lack of communication and rush to meet deadline.
I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers!
