TerlObar October 7, 2014 - 7:33pm | I have mentioned is a few places that I had a big announcement coming. Well, this is it. The Star Frontiersman has a new website. It is still at the same starfrontiersman.com domain and all of the old content is there, just in a shiny, new (old?) package. One major difference is that the issues that had previously been available only through DriveThruRPG/RPGNow are also available on the site now. Another is that the website is built to be responsive to different sized screens and looks good regardless of the screen size you are using from a huge desktop down to a small mobile phone. The other major change is that the magazine has a new manager. Bill has decided that he simply doesn't have time for the magazine and with Larry apparently having completely dropped out of the picture, he has given the magazine and everything associated with it to me. So now I'm running both the Frontier Explorer and the Star Frontiersman. There are more details about the change and future directions for the magazine on the Star Frontiersman site. We have issue 25 of the Star Frontiersman ready to go so you can expect it see it in the next few days. We were just waiting on the switch over to get completed. There are still a few items that Bill and I have to work out and that I need to work out with WotC but for all intents and purposes, the change over is complete. William Douglass (Kaxran) will remain the senior editor for the Star Frontiersman for now (probably until he doesn't want the job anymore) and submissions for both magazines will be handled through the Frontier Explorer submission system. Feel free to pipe up with comment and suggestions and especially articles and artwork you want us to publish. Ad Astra Per Ardua! Shadow Shack October 15, 2014 - 12:26pm | Cool, I can start getting SFman downloads again. The DriveThruRPG was a horrible system. |
bossmoss October 18, 2014 - 4:06am | Agree with Shack - looking forward to the new site. |
Shadow Shack October 18, 2014 - 5:23pm | I had unintentionally divorced myself from the 'zine because of DriveThruRPG. When you can't download the stuff, it's pointless to try to enjoy it. I mean it got to the point where I didn't even bother opening the discussions titled "SFMan #(insert issue number here) is out!" anymore...as I didn't even want to read about what I was missing. Looks like I'll have a lot to catch up on now. ;) |
Karxan November 5, 2014 - 11:33am | Well SS, Have you caught up yet? |
Shadow Shack November 5, 2014 - 11:39am | Haven't had the chance. Wife had a relapse of July's kidney issue thanks to a doctor's staff dropping the ball for follow up appointments. Also been having fun with the govt run healthcare website to secure more insurance --- now there's an experience that makes DriveThruRPG look like a well designed website --- and then there's work and the constant overtime. Oh yeah, earned a traffic ticket along the way too. |
Karxan November 5, 2014 - 2:40pm | Brother, I feel for you. Until I got my current job, I had to deal with the gov't healthcare. It sucks big time. I will pray for your family. Oh yeah, I got a traffic ticket too while unemployed. |
Shadow Shack November 5, 2014 - 5:47pm | I like to think of it as a "performance award". "The city of Las Vegas hereby recognizes you and your ability to operate a vehicle at high levels of speed as witnessed by a duty appointed representative of the Metropolitan Police Department. In recognition of your extreme vehicle handling skills, we cordially present you with this certificate of acknowledgement." |

Karxan November 5, 2014 - 10:27pm | Well, mine was for being a good citizen and using GPS to locate a store, all the while not noticing a certain red hexagon with white lettering. But the killer part was I forgot to put the new insurance card in the car. $$$$$ I am a good citizen and supporting the gov't. |
