In the after math of the fight to save Volturnus form first the Star Devil pirates and then the dreaded sathar it was discovered that for among the heroes of Volturnus that had participated in the Ul-mor Oneness ceremony that the ceremony had unexpected consequences. Somehow, either form the mystical alignment of the planet moons and star or something linked to Ul-mor telepathy no one knows which but certain of the heroes developed mentalist powers. One returned to Volturnus and championed the cause of the primitives during the planet's reconstruction. Over time he gathered a band of the most psionically endowed beings from all the know races and formed the Knights of Volturnus.

The Knights of Volturnus were first dedicated to preventing abuses by the mega corps against the primitives on Volturnus but it quickly became an organization dedicated to the training and of mentalist as well as providing support and safe houses for them throughout the Frontier. A Volturnian Knight is mindful of the interconnectedness of all life and generally hates evil and injustice.

One of the greatest Volturnian Knights was Master Yokel, a diminuitive kurabunga practioner of great tallent and power.

When the Dominion rose in the Frontier and cast down the UPF the KoV opposed this and the Dominion crushed their organization and hunted the Knights throughout the Frontier.

Master Yokel disappeared and hid on an uncharted planet till one day a young farm boy came to him for training, a farm boy that held the promise of overthrowing the Dominion....

One of the prized crystals of Volturnus are said to be the best for making the resonator head of a sonic sword but they are also said to resonate with psychic energy. A trained Volturnian Knight will build his own sonic sword and after can cause the activated sonic blade to glow from his own psionic energy.

A fully trained KoV can opt to defend against ranged attacks with the blade (no attack on the turn he defends) When a ranged attack would successfully strike he deflects it with a successful INT check

I was also thinking that high skill should allow for more than one deflection so melee weapons skill divided by 2 rounded up is the number of deflections: level 1-2= 1, level 3-4= 2 and so on.

The swords of KoV have been labelled "light sabers" even though this is not exactly accurate.

Most KoV become masters of the sword while also developing their mental abilities.
