It has been a long while since I last stepped into my SF zone. I found gold recently with so many sites and resources. Its amazing. However, I haven't been able to find any PBeM or PBP for SF at all. Does that still happen? I would love to find a local group, but I have never met anyone who knows SF. Do the sites or groups still exist? |
jedion357 February 5, 2014 - 6:34am | I'm not sure. I had stepped in and was running a run through of the original modules but had a scheduling change that would have made me and infrequent visitor to the community if it had not been for my smart phone and lots of hurry up and wait time at work. Even with that I feel like I'm slacking off too much and not getting the stuff done I need to do for the Frontier Explorer. This seems to be a common problem, games seem to run for a year, four yeas, 10 years and then peter out. For myself I had joined a game that had been running for like 9 years and was maddly excited about it as the GM did a digest of everyone's post and it would turn up Sunday morning when I was pouring a cup of coffee and sitting down at the computer in my underware and the rest of the family was in bed. but the GM went MIA because of work changes and you cant begrudge the guy for that. I think that group ran so long because of the email notification feature of yahoo groups (plus it was pretty cool to think that it was a global game with the GM and at least one other player residing in Australia) Some times I think about running an ad in the paper with some art of a yazirian, dralasite and vrusk and a headline that would say, "Do you know who these aliens are? Email me and @ and lets hook up for a game." (I'd create a email address just for the purpose) something like starfrontiersfanboston@mail server dot whatever. Or I'd do a picture of an assault scout and ask do you know this space ship, contact me and lets do a game. you wouldn't happen to be in the Boston Ma area? I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
TerlObar February 5, 2014 - 7:20am | Yes, they seem mostly dead at the moment. I don't know of any active games right now. However, I think we might be approaching critical mass for another game to start up. I've been hearing rumblings of desire at various places around the internet. Both for PBP or via something like Hangouts. I think if someone were to step up as GM it could probably be kicked off. I'm starting to feel the itch myself. And jedion357, if you ever want an @starfrontiers.info email, let me know and I'll set it up. I can also set it up to automatically forward to any other e-mail you want so you don't have to check it separately. Ad Astra Per Ardua! I am in Tucson, AZ myself. I have plenty of down time, have ever since getting out of the army in 2008. I know plenty of hurry up and wait. Right now I am hurrying to wait for work, to be able to better build my business or another business, to finish my degree, and to get my family stable. I have hangouts, Skype, etc. And I am definitely up for a game. I have never GM'd, and while I want to I don't feel ready otherwise I would volunteer. What can we do to get a game together? There's more than enough social networking to make it happen. Even a PBP or PBeM weekly would be awesome. Right now my addiction level is high, would love it if my 5 year old and 1 year old sons could sit down with me...even thought of using their toys as figures. |
TerlObar February 5, 2014 - 1:34pm | Well, I've definitely felt the itch to get a new PBP game going again. Maybe with an occasional live session. That's what my http://starfrontiers.info site was originally intended for: primarily to run PBP games and have a wiki of reference data. Maybe I'll pull something together. Ad Astra Per Ardua!
