Next year is the 30th anniversary since the publication of Zebs guide and the official cancelling of star frontiers. First and foremost I'd like to raise my glass of yazirian ale to my fellow frontiersman in toast to a worthy bunch of space dogs who didnt take the cancellation laying down! Next I'd like to ask if we shouldnt do something special next year to mark the occassion? Fan organized convention in the flesh or in the virtual world? Something special with the fan mag?
I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers!

We should do a virtual con at least.  Logistically we could agree to meet in groups around the world and then use video conferencing to tie all the groups into one convention.  Those that can get together, get together.  Those that can't just confernce in individually.

I would like to do a patch again or a figure.  Maybe we could do a deck of SF themed trading cards.  Invent a game around it like the good old Battlestar Galactica cards.

If we could arange a guest speaker to be online for an evening talk with questions afterward that could be cool.

We could document all the systems of the frontier with maps, acurate orbital mechanics, etc. and publish them as Zeb issue 2.  If this is too many systems to do we could do just the Rim.

We could relay some SF type item from person to person over the year trying to touch each person who signs up for the relay.  Each person who signs up makes a SF related token to pass to a nearby person.  He hands it off to him.  That person signs it and passes it on to the next, etc. until it makes the circuit back to the origon.  Each person in the relay is thus going to be visiting their near by friend each time he get visited by the person before him as each person's token passes to him.  This could take a lot of logistical coordination between everyone but the upside is you end up with your token back and signed by everyone else.  The simpler form is to make only one token and pass it around and only the last person keeps it but posts final photos.

Another way is for each person to make many duplicate tokens and pass them to as may people as they can meet.  This could be even just virtual meetings and mailing the token afterward, kinda like ham radio QSL cards.

Anyway, we should do something.

Truth, Iggy, there is a lot of ground work in the Zebs Guide project and I need to start packaging it for publication. New artwork for that will be required. this would be a setting book

The Book of Kah'dan collection of short stories project requires work on one of the short stories and  a good cover picture then we'll be able to put out an e book for down load to your kindle or tablet that will be all new Star Frontiers fiction which would be cool IMO. Mathew Crymble, who invented the kah'dan asked to review the book before it was released.

Not sure about the miniature, though I'd love one but a patch would be nice, t shirt or hat too would be cool.
Some miniatures companies will let you sculpt a mini then they take ownership of it and give you about a dozen free ones with the option to buy more at costs. I have a contact with a company in England that had discussed this with me but the contact has grown cold since we haven't talked in over 4 years. I was thinking a sculpt of a hover cycle like this one:
http://www.wired.com/autopia/2012/08/aeroflex-jedi-hover-bike/
from the RL world since its cant be said to be the IP of WotC. If Alex bites on the miniature and we got a number of free ones this could be raffled as a door prise for a virtual con.
I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers!

I'm not overly fond of Zeb's Guide...nor do I have any qualms stating why. Tongue out

The fact that the game aint dead yet.

EDIT: Its not so much about celebrating Zebs or the cancellation of the game but celebrating a great community that has stuck with this game. The anniversary is about us.

I got that, I was merely cracking wise about which sucked more --- death of the game or Zebulon's Guide.

Most folks here know my disposition towards Zeb's Guide. Wink

I was refering to the Frankenstein monster that ZG1 is.  Not the overlord that ruined Dr. Frankenstein's work.

I'm thinking we are cellibrating the cancelation of SF Laughing.  Maybe to commemoradate the event we should take down all the web sites and fan-zines and delete the backups!  lol

A miniature would be Awesome. Does anyone think that we could convince Spyder, wasn't he the one with the ship minis?, to create a ship mini for the Con?

I suppose we should actually give some thought to the 40th anniversary of D&D as well as the 30th anniversary of the publication of Zebs.
