 January 2, 2014 - 6:19pm | Just a brain storm thread to put ideas down before I lose them I was buy melting chocolate to make hot chocolate for the kids since there is a blizzard outside and a toy helicopter in the store got me thinking: the helicopter is the right size to use with 25/28mm scale miniatures with a good kit bash it could be the center piece of miniatures scenario with a working title of Black Raptor Down. Someone has been feeding the edestakai of volturnus flintlock fire arms, they're pissed about something and a horde of them is besieging a crashed helicopter. PCs must effect rescue of the living occupants. Its also a seen from a favorite novel of mine: "On Basilisk Station" by David Harrington (You can read the book on line or down load a free copy to a reader here: http://www.baenebooks.com/p-304-on-basilisk-station.aspx ) In Weber's novel bad folks are manipulating the aboriginese with a drug that is part of their sacred rites but that was so difficult to manufacure with muscle power that its use and abuse was rather limited but now its being made in job lots and it has some violent side effects. On top of that the edestakai are being given primitive fire arms. Its a dangerous powder keg and one spark could set it off. On Volturnus it could be the last remnants of the Star Devil pirates first pushing the drug to gain contorl of the primitives and get them to mine the rare alloys for them again in exchange for the drug. or its the pirates as a cut out for a corporate agent and its not jus about the alloys but its about pushing a rival corporation off their sites for some greedy reason. PCs would work for Star Law, the Native Protection Agency (under the governor of Volturnus), or they could be corporate trouble shooters (for the corporation targeted by the bad guys), Alternately they could be a scratch pick up group hired by the Governor or a multi-disciplinary team put together and sent ot volurnus with members taken from multiple government branches- 1 from the MSO, 1 from Star Law, Explorer Service etc. A. Starts with investigation of the new kick up in the drug trade, things to be learned is that the drug is too pure and clearly made in a modern lab and not by the primitives themselves. B. something else should go here C. Discovery of the firearms in the hands of an edestakai that has severely overdosed and will die from poisoning by the drug D. Black Raptor Down the edestakai shaman has dreams of cleansing their holy ground from the evil degenerate off worlds and is working the population into an uprising. First part of the uprising might be the Black Raptor Down encounter E assault on the corporate enclaves. Somewhere in the above could be an attack on the evil god killing ul-mor (who kill quick deaths as part of their man hood rites and the edestakai worship the quickdeath as the god of death) I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
