Reputedly inspiration for Alien. It is however totally Star Frontiers. Nuclear powered rockets that land tale first, conventional weapons: grenades, semi automatic pistols and rifles, gas grenades, gas masks, magnetic shoes for walking down the side of the ship, vertical deck layout. As for inspiration for Alien: unstopable alien monster initially using air ducts to move around and kill crew. Seemingly impervious to conventional weapons, and in the end blasted out the air lock by a desperate crew. In a reversal of alien the main hero is under a cloud at the start of the movie facing a court martial back on earth whereas Ripley returns to earth under a cloud not as hero. Funny thing is the 50's view of women, they wear lighter uniforms and magically appear to pour coffee or serve a plate of food when a man sits down at the table- this includes the female doctor who apparently knows her place and is Janey on the spot servimg coffee and food in an early seen. Oh yeah they scream at appropriate times too and let the men handle the guns. What a hoot. The rubber suited monster is everything you'd expect from a period monster movie or godzilla movie- just horrible. Still i did enjoy watching it to pick out the SF legacy from it.
I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers!

SPOILER ALERT You forgot the overly complicated explaination as to how to kill the monster which basically was get rid of the air and it will die.
Sounds like a great job but where did you say we had to go?

Clearly what they were thinking of when they wrote the end of aliens though they had Ripley fire the engines and burn the alien after blowing it out the air lock.

I liked the Xenomorph (Star Frontierman Xenomorphs, Movie: Aliens, #5-p27). My team had PGC subsidize their freighter company for a loan, shares and the right to be called in when needed. They just finished a Athor/Prenglar run when they were whisked away by PGC to a system that was 5-10 lightyears from Theseus. A scientific starship had sent an SOS and then all comms where stopped. They went in with a PGC security team and science team. They were the expendables. It gave them a chance to use motion detectors, security armor, sentry guns and pulse rifles. They LOVED it...until they ran into the 6 Aliens onboard. 7 of them were ambushed by 3 Xenomorphs. In 3 turns, all but 2 went down. They destroyed them but, the injuries were quick and heavy. It scared the crap out of them! The PGC scientist wanted to study them until one broke into the lab and killed them all. The party and security team contacted PGC HQ on what to do. I decided to use common sense - a PGC VP has a 5 million credit ship get infested with an unknown alien. It decimates a security detail in less then a minute...what if this species got back to the Frontier? What if the other planets and Corporations knew PGC brought it back....
"Captain!"
"Yes, Sir"
"You have torpedoes on your ship correct?"
"Yes, Sir"
"Torpedo the Aurora"
"Sir?"
"That is an order. If you cannot carry it out, then get me someone who can."
