 August 6, 2013 - 8:24pm | I'm working on a sathar ship and I'm trying to imagine what the sathar do in their off time. I'm taking the stance that the lower caste sathar don't really do anything. They are up for their duities and wallowing in their bed/bath/slime pit/pool/whatever in their off time. What do the middle and upper class sathar do? Specifically, what kind of accomodations do they need for entertainment/education/etc? Any ideas? Ad Astra Per Ardua!  August 6, 2013 - 9:23pm | This is assuming that the upper caste sathar prefer to be alone or seperated from the lower caste. Maybe the act of swarming around other sathar in a slime pit is soothing to sathar. Maybe the upper caste just have cleaner or more tasty slime to slither in. Maybe the upper caste all slime together too and don't need individual slime pits. Maybe they pit with their subordinates one shift then pit with their superiors the next. This could be about keeping the social and political chain of command working. Outside of the pit I agree the lower caste and just working or resting, long hours for the lot. The upper caste however have social/political time. Their aptitude to politics and social ladder climbing is what gets them into the upper caste. Thus their long working hours are split into shifts where they are off ship duty but still working the political and social machine. I would say this entails time in education, put that in a pit with headsets on, mingling with others; or in wall side couches with the headsets on. Then there would be discussion groups and competitions with games and muscle such as sathar chess or body wrestling. Anything to expose and promote oneself among the others. A loner or private sathar is not going to make it into the upper caste. -iggy |
 January 20, 2014 - 6:17pm | Lower caste: work or wallow with work being long tbough on a ship work might not be so demanding so they wallow a lot .
Middle caste: work and wallow too but perhaps its been found that they have better performance with less work and more nutrients in their wallow. Upper caste: work, wallow and socialize/ plot plan scheme. They may actually indulge in recreation. If they were felling an itch on the sexual side they might whistle up a lower or middle caste to share their wallow but you can bet this bed mate isnt staying thw night. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
 January 21, 2014 - 3:24pm | When I was much younger I sorta pondered this question as to what recreational facilities were available on the Death Star. While different cultures like different forms of recreation since we know so little about the Sathar it would be hard to judge. Sounds like a great job but where did you say we had to go? |
