I was reading the star mist module today because I forgot to account for in when I took over the PBP classic module campaign and low and behold availabe to the PCs in the cargo hold of the VSS Last Leggs is a star ship engineer's laser power torch with a 300 SEU power clip (which just happens to be 10the shot of that tool/weapon at max power of 30 SEU per shot.

I think this represents the realization of the writers that the standard power supplies are way to limiting for the wt (power belts and backpacks). I would advocate that this power clip is just the new generation of power back pack that now holds 300 SEU and the power belt holds double what it did before. Alternately since Maximillian Malligigg is into exploring aliens sites (that is part of the official set up for the adventure the 300 SEU clip could be classed as a one off alien artifact that he collected but to do that in an adventure with another one off alien artifact (the war tank) seems a bit much.

Actually that laser power torch and associated 300 SEU backpack is a standard equipment item in the Knight Hawks rules (p 30, original rules).  There is no weight given for it in the KH rules as it is supposed to be used in 0g (in fact the rules state that "This backpack is so heavy it can be used only in a weightless environment.") but I feel the price is wrong.  It lists it as 500 cr, when it should be 1,500 cr based on the price of 5 cr per SEU of all the other power packs.

Personally, if I wanted assign a weight/mass, I'd give it a mass of double the standard power backpack (i.e. 20 kg if using the standard values) even though it holds triple the amount of SEU.  Although I might just give it triple the mass (i.e. 30 kg)  as that would fit in with the "too heavy" description in the rules.  Starmist says that it requires a vehicle to carry so you could make it more but a type one parabattery, which holds 500 SEU only weighs 25 kg (and only costs 600 Cr so maybe the 500 cr for a 300 SEU powerpack isn't bad.).

What you're describing is essentially an energy econopack, though I think it only carries 250 SEU.

I'd increase the cost of all non-generator power sources for the actual container.  Say, 10 Cr for a clip, 25 for a pack and 50 for a parabattery.
