Take a look and tell me what you think I believe the defining event of his life was the invasion of Pale by the Sathar, which he somehow managed to not only survive but establish a megacorp within for years of the invasion. Megacorp-Streel
Corp Race-Yazirian Homeworld-Pale
(Truane’s Star) Public
History-Hilo Headow was born to a poor Yazirian family in Pale’s capital city.
A studious child he worked at his family’s loan shop, keeping the books and
helping clients to achieve their financial. Hilo Headow eventually took over
the family business and was expanding it into other fields when the Sathar
invasion came. Hilo Headow was not a member of militia but quickly took up arms
and calling upon his clan brothers and sisters organized a resistance which
held the Sathar off until they finally left the planet on the last transport.
Once in the refugee camp, Hilo Headow and his makeshift unit continued working
to provide the basic necessities for the mass of refugees who had been unable
to bring anything with them. Once Pale was retaken Hilo Headow and his people
were among the first to return. They quickly established themselves as the
beings to go to when you needed help getting your life back together. Need a
loan to buy building material see Hilo Headow, need to somewhere to buy
building materials see Hilo Headow, need your building cleared of a Quickdeath
left behind see Hilo Headow. Then amidst all the rebuilding of a destroyed planet
in FY 2 Hilo Headow incorporated the companies he owned into a mega-corp named
after the militia unit he formed the Streel Corporation. A Streel is a small
but incredibly vicious and tenacious predator native to Pale knows to never
allow anything to invade its nest. Real History-Most
of Hilo Headow’s history is accurate with only some items left out. While he
tried to give the illusion of being a simple accountant and banker he was
better known to authorities as a member of one of the Yazirian’s crime families
known as the Tribes. He might have gone the usual way for a branded Yazirian if
not for the Sathar attack. The weapons and soldiers he organized during the
invasion were actually the criminals his Tribe used for their operations. Whatever
his attitude before the invasion it changed afterward but not entirely. He did
fight and work to save lives and get beings off of Pale and did do all he could
to make life in the camps at least bearable. But he did so with the
ruthlessness of a crime lord; frequently shooting those who did not see things
his way. Once back on Pale, Hilo Headow and his Tribe took over many businesses
especially ones whose owners were no longer around or returning. Giving much
away but keeping the majority Hilo Headow used it to create an empire the basis
of which was the financial documents left behind. Present- Hilo
Headow continues to run a company known as both kind and ruthless. But this is
not his only undertaking. He is also a general in the Pale Militia Reserves and
an Elder in his Yazirian Clan. He is also a major promoter of preparing Pale
for another Sathar attack. Sounds like a great job but where did you say we had to go? |
jedion357 May 23, 2013 - 2:29am | I like the public and private history idea- almost a bit of PC vs Referee briefing but not quite PCs ought to know some of the real history. I agree that the sathar invasion of Pale should be the pivotal moment of his life and lead to the foundation of the megacorp. I like the Streel creature invention, the tribes invention You've made him more ruthless than I always imagined but I like that too. 1. need to come up with animal stats fro the Streel and a picture- this may just get stolen for the monster mash thread idea. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
rattraveller May 23, 2013 - 3:09am | Take it away for the Streel creature. I do think both Hilo and the format need some refinement and to another extent the Tribes as the criminal organization of the Yazirians. Initial idea is something similar to the Tongs of Chinese culture. Sounds like a great job but where did you say we had to go? |
iggy May 23, 2013 - 11:51am | I felt too that the criminal side was strong than I was used too, but it is growing on me. I think the gangster part should be independent of clan though it may run thick in some clans. No one yazirian clan would survive if the gangsters were so prevelent and open as to dishonor the clan. -iggy |

I agree with that and the name "the tribes" certainly suggest something different than clans- a similar structure but different in nature perhaps? rattraveller May 23, 2013 - 6:14pm | I probably didn't make it clear enough but the thinking goes Hilo was a criminal and a member of the Tribes. The Tribes (and this is very rough) are groups of Yazirians known to commit crimes. More of the organized type and less of the straight out gimme the credits or die type. When the Sathar invaded he lead his Tribe in combating them and saved alot of beings. Then in the refugee camps his organized group got things done when others couldn't primarily by using their standard tactics. But they were more Robin Hood than Al Capone at this point. After returning to Pale his Tribe used all their old skills to acquire companies but instead of gutting them they took over put beings to work and rebuild their home. Currently they are a legit company which still uses their former tactics to accomplish their goals and make no apologies. Since Hilo was a hero of the Sathar War and the Reconstruction and for appearance sake had given up crime his clan took him back (bribery and blackmail may also have been involved). Same with getting a commission in the militia. Heavy handed with a purpose. Which is to make sure Pale is not forced to evacuate ever again. Which also explains why Hilo and Streel and so close to Merco. Having a private professional army on call is always helpful. Sounds like a great job but where did you say we had to go? |
jedion357 May 23, 2013 - 6:35pm | I like that too. He's gone legit but once was not legit. Leaves room for someone to make the insinuation that he's not the pillar of society that he makes himself out to be though you would not want to do that too loudly where he might hear it. No doubt news outlets on Pale are circumspect about that too. I like the evolution of this very much. I think rattraveller is staking out a position on the site as the mega corp guru. kudos to rat t I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
