 May 20, 2013 - 8:05pm | Yeah, folks play Halo, make a lot of clean head-shots in sniper-mode, and they think they are skilled snipers. But in real life, there is a whole lot of math involved. I think Cracked called it "Weaponized Math"? The "app" would be useful for casual gun-nuts, but real snipers would likely use it like a pocket calculator, with a lot of adjustments and tinkering. |
 May 21, 2013 - 10:33pm | I don't think a skilled sniper would use an auto-shooting feature. An auto-shoot feature would be like letting a computer do battle. It can guage, mechanically, but it can't anticipate or make intuitive adjustments based on previous experience. Maybe someday, when A.I. comes to life, but not right now. it's still in its infancy. However, a thousand yards accuracy is still good. But I doubt it would work well in high and variable winds. It seems to me to be designed for inexperienced snipers. Though I could see a commercial application: "Dude" hunting lodges where they feed and maintain a heard of deer and despite your experience with guns you will bag a deer.
