1 cup of sour Sour cream
1 brick of cream cheese
2 cans of refried beans
1 pkg of taco seasoning.

Mix and spread in a 9X13 dish then cover with 2 cups of shredded cheddar and 2 cups of shredded jack cheese. bake at 350 for 20 or so minutes till lightly browned.

Let the kids do the mixing and serve with tortilla chips with dinner, the kids are still moawing on it but I'm stuffed. The bean dip is filling.

Jedion,

Thanks for the idea. Next time my daughter has her girls Bible study I will have her make this for them. It will go over great.

I think I might experiment with the recipe a little: sliced black olives sprinkled on top with the cheese, diced red pepper mixed in with the bean dip portion, maybe a minced garlic.

I may yet experiment with cooking our own tortilla chips at home too but the local supermarket just started selling some cheapo no named tortilla chips that lack the food additives I watch for so maybe not on that one.

But seriously this was filling- I served some sauges in rolls and sweet corn with this and I only ate one bowl of dip with chips with my meal.

Looks like it'd be tasty that's for sure! :)  Refriend beens come in a couple sizes (can't remember the actualy oz weights) but one size the standard canned veggie size (what's that, about 14oz?) and the other is about twice that size. Which size can did you use for this recipe?
I don't have to outrun that nasty beast my friend...I just have to outrun you! Wink

I used the standard veggie can size, my copy of the recipe didnt specify, plus I was at the store buying ingredients from memory. I might actually cut the ingredients down and do a smaller portion version of this just for Dad because the kids tend to react negatively to new foods and then I can get away with chilies and roasted red peppers. The kids can do theirs with black olives (which they love) and I'll do the Daddy only dish with hot stuff.

Jedion, I have the same problem with my 16 yr old with new foods. Never gets better. I made lime chicken one night for an experiment and my daughter asked me to never make it again. I made it for my dad later and he enjoyed it, so not the cooking itself as on emight think. Foot in mouth

I have been making and buying food and not offering to share it with the kids, when they ask I tell them they wont like it and to just leave for Daddy to enjoy and I ham up enjoying it just a little. Reverse Psych. It worked with Roasted Seaweed snack from Trader Joes and now that is one of their favorite snacks. It doesn't work 100% but somewhere in the area of 80%.
