Images taken by the Hubble Space Telescope in 2011 and 2012 revealed two previously unknown moons of Pluto. So far, we have been calling them "P4" and "P5", but the time has come to give them permanent names. If it were up to you, what would you choose?

Alpha & Dawn
I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers!

Remeber that the ones likely to be selected are ones that match the existing names.  The other three moons are Charon, Nix, and Hydra.

My votes are for Cerebus and Styx

Shatner is trying to get one named Vulcan.
I would name one Xagyg and of course, w00t!

Charon, Nix and Hydra are all associated with the water. Charon was the ferryman on the various rivers of Hades and Tartarus. Nix (or Nixie, or Neck) were water spirits that appeared in human form. Hydra was a 5-headed water serpent in Hades.

Other water creatures:
Akheilos (Shark-shaped sea spirit)
Eidothea (Prophetic sea nymph and daughter of Proteus.)
Hippocampus (The horses of the sea)
Ichthyocentaur (A pair of centaurine sea-gods with the upper bodies of men, the lower fore-parts of horses, ending in the serpentine tails of fish. Their names are Bythos and Aphros.)
Ladon (A hundred-headed sea serpent who guarded the western reaches of the sea, and the island and golden apples of the Hesperides.)
Nerite (Watery consort of Aphrodite and/or beloved of Poseidon.)
Nymph
Oceanide (Fresh water nymphs)
Scylla (A Nereid metamorphosed into a sea monster.)
Siren (Three sea nymphs, Peisinoe, Aglaope, and Thelxiepeia, who lured sailors to their death with their song. [The number is in dispute. Various names are rendered in later sources as Thelxiepeia/Thelxiope/Thelxinoe, Molpe, Aglaophonos/Aglaope/Aglaopheme, Pisinoe/Peisinoë/Peisithoe, Parthenope, Ligeia, Leucosia, Raidne, and Teles.])
Telchine (Sea spirits native to the island of Rhodes; the gods killed them when they turned to evil magic.)
Thetis (Leader of the Nereids who presided over the spawning of marine life in the sea, mother of Achilles.)
Tritones (Fish-tailed spirits in Poseidon's retinue.)

Other water names associated particularly with Hades would be:

Rivers of Hades:
Styx
Acheron (River of pain)
Lethe (River of forgetfulness who was once the personification of forgetfulness and oblivion.)
Phlegethon (River of fire)
Cocytus (River of wailing)

Water Landmarks in Hades:
Hypnos (The cave through which Lethe flowed.)

My vote:
Lethe (Appropriate, as the latest moons had gone unnoticed for so long.)
Carcinus (Appropriate because of its association with Hydra.)

Ascent's suggestions are good ones. I like them.

The other rule is that they can't also be used already.  My wife was involved in the discovery of several binary objects out there (she studies Pluto and the other Kuiper Belt objects) and had to opportunity to name the two objects in one of the binaries along with her collaborator/boss.  They were going to name them after their daughters but Danae, our daughter's name, is already the name of an asteroid so that was a no go.

Some of those names are very familiar.  Styx is the name of my wife's backup network storage drive, Charon is her main computer and Archeron is her laptop Smile.  (Her previous laptop was hydra)

Carcinus is also the correct name of Cancer, and Delphine the name of Delphinus. Charybdis is the name of a main belt asteroid. (Naming an asteroid seems frivolous. What's that about?) Naiad, Nereid and Triton are moons around Neptune. Electra is the name of the star also called 17 Tauri. (There are billions of stars in our galaxy alone. Why are we wasting Greek and Latin names on them? What's wrong with calling one "Freddy Stahl"?)

So I removed them all from the list.

Because of William "The Big Giant Head" Shatner, the first place name is Vulcan. The runners-up are Cerberus and Styx.
