jedion357 January 24, 2013 - 2:24pm | I'll have a go first: Soiled Doves: very very short RPG about prostitutes on a zeplin the size of the titanic trying to ply their trade so that they can buy a meal. All the while there is a Jack the Ripper type cannibal about, looking to put them on his menu. Player characters are called doves. http://1d4chan.org/wiki/Soiled_Doves follow link for the download. With rules this brief its best played with a casual group of freinds that like a little bit of adult beverage at the gaming table IMO. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
Ascent January 24, 2013 - 2:44pm | Sounds like a steampunk module, not an RPG. View my profile for a list of articles I have written, am writing, will write. "It's yo' mama!" —Wicket W. Shadow Shack January 25, 2013 - 12:09am | I thought I read something about a Twilight RPG. I can't imagine anything more odd than that. "My vampire rushes out into the direct sunlight to attack the lycan before he changes form. In the day time without a full moon. Key word here is 'direct sunlight'. " As if watching it (under protest) wasn't insulting enough. |
Malcadon January 25, 2013 - 12:35am | A number of games by Simon Washbourne are odd. Babewatch is a silly tongue and cheek parody of Baywatch. Dreamscape is played between characters in reality and in a dream-world. He also made a game about good English boys from the good 'O days. The oddest game I ever encountered, was from the late-'90s, and the name eludes me. The guy stopped because he felt that people would think he ripped off The Matrix. It truth, its more like 1984 set in a virtual world, then an outright cyberpunk. Long ago, people placed themselves in hibernation capsule and hooked their brains to a virtual world. They got board and hedonistic, then they went crazy and violent, and in the end, they started anew, while forgetting where they came from. Much like The Matrix, people are made artificially, and are provided with capsules in the real world. They do not know this, and are just come into being, as wards of the state. Since no one needs to eat (they are provided for by the capsule's life-support systems) "eating" in the virtual world is a luxury. Knowledge and behavior is heavily enforced by law, life is heavily regimented, and the authorities maintain absolute control over everyone's lives. Those in charge have access to powerful artifacts (programs) that are seen as divine or magical. There are those who can access artificial bodies to explore the real world, but most people will write off such accounts as being nothing more then dreams. Player characters are the few sheeples who found ways to alter their own reality, and can ether work with the system to fight rogue elements that threaten the peace and security of the world, or fight the system to free people from the regime. I need to look for those files (my achieves are huge). |
GJD January 25, 2013 - 5:45am | HoL - Human Occupied Landfil. A hand-written RPG about people living on an intergalactic garbage dump, including places like the Nappy Swamp of eternal Stench. I cannot emphasise how odd this game is. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hol_(role-playing_game) G. |
jedion357 January 25, 2013 - 12:27pm | http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hol_(role-playing_game) G. I give you that one being really odd as I might actually play Soiled Doves with the right group of people. Though its oddness loses points for being an intentional paradoy. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
rattraveller January 25, 2013 - 7:15pm | Odd maybe but definitely a why the heck would you play it was an RPG I once saw on drivethrurpg.com was a zombie game where YOU were the zombie. You had to hunt down humans to eat and to do so you had to learn important skills like walking up stairs, smashing windows, turning door knobs and climbing ladders. Yes start as a new born and work your way to toddler. Sounds like a great job but where did you say we had to go? |
Ascent February 10, 2013 - 11:52am | Zombie skills. That actually sounds hilarious. I would at least give it a try. I can definitely see hijinks ensuing. Malcadon February 10, 2013 - 2:46pm | Yes start as a new born and work your way to toddler. There is a movie coming out that is somewhat like that, called Warm Bodies. Basically, it is about a kid who becomes a zombie but is still mentally aware despite being a typical walking coupes seen in every other zombie movie, and has to learn how to control himself better. Somehow a girl recognizes his intelligence, learns from him and than falls in love with him. If you cant tell, it is a romantic comedy and a parody of the genre in general. |
rattraveller February 10, 2013 - 5:56pm | Yes #1 movie in America last weekend. If it wasn't tax season I would give it a try. Sounds like a great job but where did you say we had to go? |

Yes #1 movie in America last weekend. That doesn't really say much for America's need to be entertained... |
