bioreplica January 9, 2013 - 5:22am | This could prove to be interesting. I'm sure you could convince them to publish starfrontiers articles. jedion357 January 9, 2013 - 8:03am | Well it looks like Wizards allowed TSR to expire as a trademark and Hexagon publishing picked it up; or at least that is what I presume from looking at the very uniformative site. I would have loved a bit more information then they gave. That said one wonders if its going to be a strong fantasy focus or what? EDIT: Alright the interview was helpful. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |

Well it looks like Wizards allowed TSR to expire as a trademark and Hexagon publishing picked it up; Checking the gov site, "Star Frontiers" is also listed as "dead" (they are not paying to maintain it since 2004). Sadly the name does not fit with the game I am working on. |
jedion357 March 1, 2013 - 5:43pm | I just spotted a post in another forum this magazine has released. Poster in question just got his in the mail. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
jedion357 February 22, 2015 - 8:22am | I just got issue 4 in the mail. and I now have a subscription and I'm very excited about it. The Zine is pretty much the next best thing to getting a new issue of Dragon magazine. In fact they are actively recruiting artist who worked on Dragon and clearly patterning the zine after Dragon mag from its golden age: 1980s. Table of contents and cover shout: Dragon Magazine! As far as i can tell their target audience is middle age gamers who are a little nostolgic about the game (D&D and to a lesser extent other TSR properties-that is TSR properties that are now owned by WotC since the zine is published by the new TSR). of course a younger demographic is likely to love the zine too just as most of us love getting Dragon back in the day. The highlight of this issue is the Top Secret adventure written by one of the original game designers. It would work as a SF adventure with a little adjustment. (I'd drop the Arab arms dealer in favore of a Vrusk Trade house and create some cultural quirks to replace those that the agents are briefed on for interacting with ethnic arabs. Locate the adventure location to an isolated location on Laco or Volturnus and surprise the camel racing could be loper or tomar's horse racing). There is 2 articles for 13th Age RPG, 3 DM's tool box articles for new takes on old creatures or just new creatures clearly aimed at AD&D players but useable by almost any iteration of D&D expect perhaps 4.0 There are a couple of articles of general interest as well. I'm impressed with and really enjoyed it. The Artwork is fabulous. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
