Galactic Task Force

Everyone needs someone and some beings need a lot of someones and with the slogan “Secretaries to Mercenaries, we’ve got a place for you” GTF means to provide those someones. How they became a megacorp by providing warm bodies is an interesting tale of Frontier economics. The Frontier economy is one of constant change. Few planets have been settled for more than a couple centuries and more are being found all the time. Add to that the fact that the Frontier is a very high tech place. The skills required to operate even seemingly simple jobs often take years to learn.

Take a job like receptionist. Answering the comp device and greeting client may look easy but when you consider that a really good one can handle four different computer programs at the same time and visually determine the needs of the client with psycho-social skills. Many a being has thrown a comp device at the client asking for directions to the mag-lev station while they were looking up the 3^rd VPs comp number.

GTF works more as a job clearing house than an employment agency. GTF has hundreds of thousands of employees on file and when a company needs one or 10,000 they call GTF. The biggest advantage is that GTF will bring beings in from other planets to work and help set them up in quarters so they can start right away. GTF also evaluates the job requirements and makes recommendations which frequently save clients credits.

Now for the different departments in the GTF megacorp:

Correlation Dept: It is here that the magic takes place. Scattered everywhere with the best access to interplanetary communications they take the client’s order and determine the best way to fill it and start finding the beings. It is truly the innovations GTF placed here that took them to megacorp status.

Rent-A-Drudge: Everyone remembers that old days when a beat up hovertruck would pull up to the corner and the driver would yell he needed 10 and a group would jump in the back. This subsidiary of GTF ended all that when they hired all those beings and required the beat up hovertrucks to come to them. They also made it respectable enough for shiny new gyrocopter pilots to drop in and hire a dozen.

20 hour Escorts: THIS IS NOT A CALL BEING SERVICE. If you need someone to give you a tour or accompany you to a party or take your little ones while you attend a meeting or act like your team at a meeting then you need 20 hour escorts. The beings they employ are more actors then workers and can handle any situation. They have been used to pull pranks by Dralasites more than any other service.

All-Day Medical Services: Finished dealing with the Sathar traitors and instead of relaxing at the bar your recuperating in bed. We can send the professional medical help you need to recover faster. They aren’t a call being service either.

Holding Division: When the Correlation Dept gets an order they figure out what skills are needed to fill it and send the order to this group who has all the GTF employees on hand. They make the offers to the employees and get them their travelling instructions.

Recruiting Division: Sometimes GTF does not have the right being for the job. A lot of times they need to fill constantly in demand skill sets and jobs. For this they are constantly on the lookout for new talent. They even train beings who agree to go wherever GTF sends them.

Security Forces Ltd.: Their most famous subsidiary is not quite what beings think it is. While regular military units are available most of their work is security. They do offer more gadget oriented security than Merco. Instead of a platoon of guards you get a squad with more surveillance equipment than Spacefleet headquarters.

The standard military units are also much more gear heavy than comparable Merco units. GTF trains most of their military assets themselves so they are less experienced on average. One note it is not uncommon for an employer to hire some Merco units for say Commando missions and GTF for a Tank Regiment and have them work together. By agreement Merco and GTF try not to send units who have engaged each other in the past.

BIG NOTE Secrecy is a major part of GTF’s operations. All employees sign very strict confidentiality agreements. Since they are frequently hired by other megacorps the temptation to divulge secrets is great. It is rumored Security Forces Ltd. has handled some of those who betrayed GTF.

PGC and GTF have always been closely linked especially since the Laco War. How much of a link is the subject of frequent debate and much intelligence gathering by the other megacorps.
