TerlObar November 20, 2012 - 4:50pm | A storm is coming.
Rumors tell of vast fleets of ships being amassed in the far reaches of the galaxy. Fleets that will vie with one another for control of the space ways. No quarter is expected and none will be given in a battle to eliminate all opposition as these fleets clash among the stars. Star Clash is a quick play card game of spaceship combat where you control a fleet of ships and attempt to eliminate your opponents while keeping your ships intact. Action cards provide ammo for your ship's weapons, minefields, and other cards you can play to inflict damage on enemy ships as well as repair, reinforcements, and other cards that can help to preserve your fleet and keep it in the battle. Star Clash is a "beer and pretzels" game with simple rules and mechanics that are quickly learned. Designed for 3-9 players, Star Clash also has rules for 2 players as well as solo play. Star Clash is considered an "easy" game with a difficulty rating of 1 on a 10 point scale (1=easy 10=hard). This is just something I've been working on with help from AZ_Gamer that will be coming out before Christmas. Ad Astra Per Ardua! FirstCitizen November 20, 2012 - 5:46pm | Patiently awaiting ordering information. Well, maybe not so patiently. |
jedion357 November 20, 2012 - 8:14pm | My mother helped play test it and my kids- mother was frustrated but then she usually is when my father is winning and she just plain has a negative perception of science fiction not being for her; despite all that she was game to help with the play test and had a lot of feed back for us. What is truly awesome is that Drive thru is unveiling Drive thru Print on Demand Cards for doing professionally done card games in Jan 2013. Talk about timing! If I had a complaint it would be that the new POD wouldn't be out in time for me to give everyone in the immediate family a copy of the game. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
TerlObar November 20, 2012 - 8:41pm | I wasn't going to say anything about that until later but yes, there will be a print and play version in Dec and come January there will be a print on demand version where they ship you the printed cards and download the rules via PDF. w00t (not verified) November 21, 2012 - 2:19pm | Can't wait to try this! Does it use any of the rules Scott's been posting on the DwD Studios site? We'll have a booth at GenCon, you could drop ship us some copies (and FE too) and we'll make spot on the table. :-) |
TerlObar November 21, 2012 - 2:32pm | Doubtful it has any of Scott's rules as the scope is different from what I remember his game being. If it does it would be a complete coincidence plus he didn't say anything. As for GenCon, we'll see. I might actually be there in person. Ad Astra Per Ardua! AZ_GAMER November 21, 2012 - 5:12pm | It's not the same project or rules as my Space Fleet Commander project. That is still under construction. It's more or less a knight hawks clone with a different perspective treating the ship as the character. Anyway, the concept is concrete but everytime I sit down writing it ends up sounding like KH which isn't my attempt. My hat is always off to the KH designers, they really did a great job that can't be beat but may need just a little improving upon. |
TerlObar November 29, 2012 - 4:49pm | Just to whet your appitite a little more. Here's a page of the ship cards from the game. AZ_Gamer made all the ship images. He actually made over 100 different ships with multiple images per ship for me to choose from when creating the cards. Great job AZ! Just a few more days and it will be available. It will definitely be out for "Teach your kids to game" week next week. Ad Astra Per Ardua! AZ_GAMER December 2, 2012 - 9:44am | Oh btw, there are at least a few starship images in here of designs which have not been seen in either my Titan Rising or SFKH Inspired Design projects. |
