 September 25, 2012 - 4:33pm | idle thought wandered through my head after I saw a new star ship design on Deviant art. Lets suppose its 30 years ago and we're the TSR designers tasked with coming up with a look for sathar ships and perhaps by default sathar tech. and the images of the sathar ships that we all currently know have been rejected as being too geometrical like the UPF ships. Gygax, himself has walked in and said, "No, No, the sathar are worms and squirmy and organic not hard edged geometric forms. Redo this to be more organic looking, more flowing, more... something not so like Star trek and everything else we've seen to date." Can we come up with sathar ships that perhaps invoke organic, flowing non geometric designs that maybe even invoke the basic design of the sathar ships that just got rejected. share link or picture Note: what is good in the rejected designs is the clear design philosophy within the fleet I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |

July 25, 2013 - 5:33am | Naturally being a collector of minis I have a nice collection of sahtar ship. couple sathar hvy cruisers are the center piece of my collection. same model is used for a sathar carrier just because their is no sahtar carrier model. I was idly musing on miniatures this morning and got an idea: I believe I have yet one more hvy cruiser miniature unassembled somewhere around here so why not break out the sculpting compound and kit bash a sathar carrier? Keep the basic body but change the engine nacelle arrangement to be like the wings of an X wing intead of the lowercase t. This would make room for BSG style fighter bays but not to the sides- but instead top and bottom of the model. the bay design would look like the body of the sathar cutter or UPF minelayer Edit: oh year the nacelles would be mounting on the main body and the tail section fo the ship would be lost. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
 July 25, 2013 - 3:51pm | I've been thinking of getting a 3d printer and try to make my own ship miniatures. But my graphics and drawing techniques are severly lacking. Time flies when your having rum. Im a government employee, I dont goof-off. I constructively abuse my time. |
