Corvus August 24, 2007 - 10:30pm | I figured that the easiest way for me to get back into generating content would be to do some back-porting of Alternity species into Star Frontiers (fraal, weren, mechalus, sesheyans, t'sa), since they've likewise been updated to d20 and put into d20 Future. The only problem is, they're not Open, which means I'd be treading the fine line of legality in doing so. As always my first concern is keeping the Frontiersman free of legal troubles. I could do "look-alike" species that mimic the Alternity species, but I don't like doing that. Just how much of an issue would it be to do actual Alternity-to-Star Frontiers conversions of these species? CleanCutRogue August 25, 2007 - 6:55am | I asked my dad's lawyer (my dad runs a business so has one) - who incidentally doesn't specialize in copyright/trademark law - said as long as we properly give credit, there's nothing wrong with it. Just like I put a credit disclaimer at the front of the article on the Aliens from a previous issue (I did that after checking with him). I think we'd have our butts covered as long as we state clearly:
Heck, if presented in this manner how could anyone think that the intent of the article is to detract income from WOTC when it appears more likely to serve as an advertisement for them?! :-) 3. We wear sungoggles during the day. Not because the sun affects our

Corvus August 25, 2007 - 8:27am | Other than the italics part -- I wouldn't be copying the text whole-cloth from the Alternity PH -- that sounds good to me. If you wish to make an apple pie from scratch, you must first invent the universe. -- Carl Sagan |
CleanCutRogue August 25, 2007 - 12:58pm | ok deal. You can write the disclaimer if you want. If you would prefer to leave that to me, I'll add it to the article after submission. 3. We wear sungoggles during the day. Not because the sun affects our
