And the yazirian said, "You eat that off of..."

I come across stuff and I end up wondering what the other members of the core four would think of it. For example: body sushi, personally I love sushi and I suppose I have a fondness for other things associated with this. But I get thinking how would the other races react.
I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers!

Never mind how the other races would react. I can guarantee you it would pale by comparison with my reaction to sushi.

I do not think anything would bother a dralasite. If it is edible for them they probably don't care. Yazirian's probably would love sushi. I thought I saw somewhere they like their food raw, mostly. Vrusk probably don't care if their food is cooked either. In fact, I think vrusk are vegetarian. OK, I am wrong. I just looked it up in the remastered AD rules. Vrusk are omnivorous. I did not see anything about if they liked their food cooked or raw. Vrusk probably like to have their food served in some artistic way, since they love the arts so much. They probably have some special chef school that teaches them how to prepare the meal for the execs and presentation will be a major part of it.

As for me, I tried sushi once. I don't care for it.

@ Karxan: I think your analysis is probably correct.

I always envisioned vrusk dinner plates like the ones that humans use on picnics. Sectioned, everything is orderly and has a place. Plates differ between meals and function. I understand Ambassador Ki'Vittl brings his owns plates to human space, they eat with round plates, food actually touches!

I can see vrusk as huge sushi eaters. Not sure why....

Like Swedish Meatballs, all races/cultures across the galaxy have their own individual version of "body Sushi". ;-)

In fact, I am creating a vegetarian version of it this coming weekend, thanks for the google image search term idea :)

So, I have a question. What would the core four think about McDonalds? Does the Frontier have a fastfood chain?

I always threw out the term "McRoller burgers" in my game for such references.

The only reason I brought that up is, I read they serve sushi at McDonalds in Japan. There was an article about McDonalds across the globe and different cultures actually have some type of cultural food type at their McDonalds.

It's my understanding that much like pizza and Italy, sushi does not hail from Japan.

So where does it originate from? I am an ignorant American.

I'm told it hails from the Golden State.

However I'm just going by hearsay more than anything, as mentioned in my initial post I am no fan of the stuff so I never bothered to look it up for confirmation.

{EDIT} Okay, curiousity got the better of me:

It comes from China, which still isn't Japan Wink

Pizza does hail from Italy there is just a different version of it in the US and Sushi does come from Japan but may not have originated there like Buddhism and Karate but again there are some uniquely American versions. Now Chicken Chow Mien and some other Chinese dishes are American inventions and alot of what Americans consider Mexican food is really Tex-Mex.

Is there anything considered Canadian besides beer?
Sounds like a great job but where did you say we had to go?

I've heard of buying sweet potato pie in McDs down south. And an ex girlfriend swore up and down that she use to get hotdogs at the McDs in Quincy MA as a kid 35 years or so ago. Now I have to say that my general opinion of McDs food would not even entice me to try sushi in one if I was visiting Japan- I would rate it on par with sushi bought in a gas station and consulting the Jedion rules for living, it clearly says NEVER eat sushi bought at a gas station. NEVER.

Not to get political, but the way things are going? Coming soon, oil...

And that was the motivation behind the curiosity. I didn't like throwing out that "I heard/he said/she said" and leaving it at that. It just seemed...ignorant. Wink

In Canada we have Poutine, which is french fries with cheese curds smothered in gravy. And we also have perogies which are like dumplings but filled with potatoes, cheese and sometimes bacon.

In Quebec they have a ham spread that you spread on toast like butter. I forget the name as I haven't seen it in 20 years, something like "croteau".

According to the local Mom & Pop pizzeria:

Around the world, toppings vary greatly to reflect regional preferences. In Japan, eel and squid are favorites. In Pakistan, curry is a big seller. In Russia, red herring is a topping of choice. Australians enjoy shrimp and pineapple as well as barbecue toppings. Costa Ricans favor coconut. Here in America, pepperoni is the favored topping.

The world's first pizzeria, Port' Alba, opened in 1830 in Naples, Italy.

Based on the comedy I thought Canada was the home planet of the Dralasites.

Sounds like a great job but where did you say we had to go?

Hmmm...Stuart McLean a dralasite?  That actually makes sense.
Tell me, have you ever heard of a time lord?  A species that was said to exist a long time ago.  Legend says they are older than even the mythical Tetrachs.  Maybe, on some glorious day, a survivor of their apocolypse will visit the frontier.  There is nothing we can do now.  Nothing but sit and wait.
